Catholic Charities West Michigan Child Welfare Case Aide- Benton Harbor in Benton Harbor, Michigan

Position Summary

The Child Welfare Case Aide position is responsible for transporting children and biological parents to necessary appointments and visits. In addition, the Child Welfare Case Aide may be required to supervise visits as requested and perform additional needs as related to the Child Welfare Department..

Essentials Duties and Responsibilities
  • Picks up and transports children and/or families in the Child Welfare Program.
  • Coordinates and supervises visits for biological parents and children in the Child Welfare Program.
  • Ensures safety of children through the proper use of car seats and seat belts.
  • Maintains and cleans the CASA visit house daily.
  • Writes and records documentation of parenting time visits.
  • Files paperwork and conducts concurrent audit reviews of client case records.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to relate to diverse populations and cultures while communicating with clients in a courteous and effective manner both orally and in writing.
  • Ability and willingness to transport clients within a large geographic area.
  • Ability to identify the safety needs of a child and maintain that as a priority daily.
  • Ability to document client interactions and parenting skills.
  • Ability to manage and organize schedules.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours.
  • Efficient in time management and multi-tasking.
  • Proficient knowledge of computers, smartphones, GPS, and online calendars.
Recommended Employment Qualifications

Education:

A High school diploma, GED, or Bachelor's Degree in social work, sociology, Ppychology, or a human service related area is preferred.

Experience:

A minimum of one year experience working with children and families is preferred.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

none required.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
