Actalent Mechanical Engineer in Benton Harbor, Michigan

Job Title: Mechanical EngineerJob Description

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing new automation and integration solutions that enhance manufacturing process efficiencies through advanced technologies. Responsibilities include designing custom machinery with a focus on automation equipment, presenting designs, communicating effectively with external vendors, developing equipment layouts and subassemblies, evaluating and improving solution designs with an emphasis on robotics and automation, creating innovative mechatronic systems, developing advanced technology platforms, documenting product requirements, interfacing with the team for new product development from concept to production, maintaining effective communication with the cross-functional team and partners, resolving complex issues, and bringing a department-wide perspective to technical decisions.

Hard Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Technology

  • Machine design experience in SolidWorks (preferably 3+ years)

  • Experience working directly with customers and cross-functional teams

  • Problem solving skills / Troubleshooting

  • Ability to travel (up to 15% but typically about 10% - to customer sites mainly in Michigan and Indiana)

Soft Skills

  • Effective communication

  • Ability to resolve complex issues efficiently and effectively

  • Capability to maintain high-level communications with cross-functional teams

Job Type

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 12 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

Work Environment

This role is part of a specialized company focused on the design and manufacture of automation systems that improve operating efficiencies and production, leading to increased customer profits and market share expansion. The engineering team consists of 5 members. The typical work week is 45 hours with some local travel required within Michigan and Indiana.
