This role in summary
Whirlpool is seeking a qualified candidate to fill a critical Senior Analyst, Finance - Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Reporting role. The Senior Analyst, Finance - Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Reporting is a key member of the Corporate Controller function. This role reports to the Director, Finance - ESG Reporting. This individual will work closely with multiple internal and external stakeholders in driving company-wide ESG performance, analysis and disclosure. This role is expected to enhance the control framework for all ESG metrics and prepare the company to comply with ESG reporting regulations. This is a primarily remote position available to any qualified applicant within driving distance of our Global Headquarters in Benton Harbor, MI. #LI-DD1
Your responsibilities will include
Provide analysis and prepare disclosures for ESG reporting regulatory compliance.
Advance internal control environment for ESG metrics and ensure SOX 404 internal control compliance standards are maintained for ESG disclosures
Support the preparation and review of the Annual Sustainability Report and related disclosures
Proactively monitor evolution in the ESG external environment and actively engage with regulators, ESG Raters & other key stakeholders to understand trends in ESG accounting, disclosure, and reporting requirements
Support analysis and policy recommendations for carbon accounting, including the purchase and sale of carbon credits and other environmental assets
Recommend ESG disclosures in financial reporting filings, including quarterly earnings releases and SEC filings; Form 10-K, Annual Report, Proxy Statement, etc.
Support the annual feedback processes for prioritized and monitored ESG ratings and rankings
Assist with special projects
Minimum requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Management, Sustainability or Business
3+ years experience in corporate finance, internal controls, external reporting, sustainability, or ESG
Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% of the time
Preferred skills and experiences
Experience with accounting policies, internal controls, and financial reporting
Familiar with ESG and non-financial regulatory and reporting frameworks, such as EU CSRD (European Union Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive), ISSB (International Sustainability Standards Board) disclosure standards, and ESG ratings agencies.
Strong understanding of non-financial/ESG data and disclosures, including carbon accounting
Highly organized and results-oriented with demonstrated experience managing cross-enterprise processes
Skilled at leading and managing without authority
Strong business problem-solving, communication, leadership, and project management skills
Ability to influence and lead others, especially in building relationships across business units and corporate functions to drive change
Work in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment under strict deadlines
