Walmart Director, Software Engineering - FDS in Bentonville, Arkansas

Position Summary...

What you'll do...

Get ready to embark on an exhilarating journey with Walmart! We're on the hunt for a dynamic Director of Software Engineering - FDS to play a pivotal role in supporting our Finance Data Services team.

In this role, you'll be at the helm of our global FDS Associates team, steering a crew of approximately 70 associates based in both the United States and India. Your mission? To propel our Engineering teams towards new frontiers of success.

  • Lead a team of highly skilled associates and four Sr. Managers based in the US and India

  • Cultivate a strong professional relationship with approximately 55 associates based in India

  • Manage a variety of contractors, including Time & Material and Managed Outcome, to continually advance product development as needed

  • Guide the technology team in reviewing current business needs and strategizing for potential future technology changes

  • Actively collaborate with the Global Technology Platform (GTP) team and the Enterprise Architect (EA) team on future technology roadmaps

  • Coordinate with other major ongoing programs to understand and direct required changes for the FDS organization

  • Contribute to the creation of roadmaps and project plans that support Walmart's long-term data optimization plans across various systems

  • Supervise the existing cloud footprint and cost metrics, and promote efficiencies as part of regular engineering excellence.

Finance Data Services is at the heart of our Finance Technology, housing a suite of Micro-Services that centralize and make available our core Finance Technology data. This vital information currently underpins our Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Procure to Pay, and Inventory processes, but we're just getting started. We've laid the groundwork to expand these services to encompass even more finance processes in the near future.

W hat you'll bring...

  • 5+ years of supervisory experience in software engineering with a proven ability to build and maintain high-performing teams

  • Reputation for effective leadership in a remote and geographically diverse setting

  • Profound knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle and robust engineering principles

  • Robust background in Cloud & Open-Systems technology,

  • Unwavering commitment to Every Day Engineering Excellence (EDEE) and upholding the highest quality standards

  • Prior experience with open-systems cloud solutions and their integration layers with SAP

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in product management, emerging technologies, and ERP systems.

  • Over a decade of experience in constructing and managing a team of top-performing application development engineers.

  • A background in quantitative analysis or engineering is preferred.

  • Demonstrated sound business acumen, clear thinking, quantitative analysis skills, problem-solving abilities, scoping of technical requirements, and prioritization skills.

  • The candidate must possess a strategic mindset and the ability to act tactically when necessary.

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Minimum Qualifications...
