What you'll do...

Skills+ Platform is a strategic initiative aimed at transitioning Walmart into a skills-based organization. This platform will serve as a unifying force across our entire talent ecosystem, encompassing talent acquisition, hiring, performance management, development, career progression, and succession planning.

As a Staff Engineer on the Skills+ Platform Core team, you will collaborate with a team of experienced backend engineers to construct the foundational platform that will underpin diverse applications within the Walmart Global People Tech ecosystem.

Our team is focused on developing a streamlined, dependable company that includes service operations and technology solutions for Finance, People, and Associate Digital Experience (ADE). We also provide a variety of services such as procurement, supplier portfolio management, merchandising master data, and analytics. From developing HR chatbots and virtual assistants to creating invoice solutions and facilitating legal changes, we help drive efficiency across Walmart globally. The Enterprise People Technology team supports the successful deployment and adoption of new People technology across the enterprise. What you'll do:

• Understand business problems and suggest technology solutions.

• Architect, design, build and deploy technology solutions at scale

• Raise the bar on sustainable engineering by improving best practices, producing best in class of code, documentation, testing and monitoring.

• Estimate effort, identify risks and plan execution.

• Mentor/coach other engineers in the team to facilitate their development and to provide technical leadership to them.

• Rise above details as and when needed to spot broader issues/trends and implications for the product/team as a whole.

What you'll bring:

• Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science or related technical field.

• 10+ years of experience in design and development of highly -scalable applications development in product based companies or R&D divisions.

• Strong computer systems fundamentals, DS/Algorithms and problem solving skills

• Hands on experience in Microservices, RESTful webservices development in Java (Spring Boot)/ Javascript (Node.js)

• Expertise in service oriented architecture, Relational and/or NoSQL Database

• Hands-on experience with event-based system processing such as Kafka

• Exposure to cloud infrastructure, such as Open Stack, Azure, GCP, or AWS

• Exposure to build, CI/CD & deployment pipelines and related technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins etc

• Proficient in systems design and distributed systems handling scalability, observability and fault tolerance.

• Demonstrated end-to-end ownership from inception to deployment of complex project in production.

• Effective problem solving skills, ability to make design trade offs, balancing the long-term "big picture" and short-term implications of design decisions.

• Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00
