What you'll do...

Director, Business Strategy and Planning

The Customer Digital Identity organization is enabling Walmart to better understand who the Walmart customer is. At the same time, we are ensuring streamlined processes, security, scalability, regulatory compliance and best in class customer experience. The customer is at the heart of all we do at Walmart. The Customer Digital Identity team will amplify customer centricity by deepening the company's understanding of customers and their preferences. When we do that, we can serve them when and how they need.

The team collaborates with product, engineering, and business teams, such as eCommerce, Marketing, and multiple teams in Walmart's revenue organization such as Walmart +, Data Ventures, and Walmart Connect, to create a holistic and consistent digital view of customers' relationship with Walmart. The team is also responsible for driving the enterprise strategy around customer data and identity capture and developing a unified strategy around customer identity. We are seeking a Director, Business Strategy and Planning for the Customer Digital Identity team.

What you will do:

Scan the industry landscape to understand trends in customer data

  • Formulate the right questions, partner with internal stakeholders, develop insightful papers, and establish forums to educate internal stakeholders on trends. Example topics include:

  • Competitive trends in data collection and usage

  • Implications on privacy

  • Data partnership trends

Inform long range vision and strategy for the Customer Data and Identity team

  • Facilitate annual process to revise CDI vision and strategy

  • Define data partnership strategy

  • Define key metrics and outcomes over the short and medium term

  • Drive alignment on 3-year roadmap within CDI team and with cross-functional partners

Develop the annual operating plan for Customer Data and Identity, in partnership with the finance team

  • Understand partner teams priorities for the next fiscal

  • Identify key initiatives within CDI that drive value for partner teams

  • Establish annual goals and metrics

  • Quantify initiative impact on goals and metrics

  • Facilitate resource allocation conversations

Manager Quarterly Business Reviews and check-ins with key partner teams

  • Establish a quarterly cadence of check ins with partner strategy teams in the revenue organization

  • Define agenda, metrics and content

  • Facilitate outcomes, inform future plans

Prepare executive presentations and communication on program updates

  • Share program update into other existing mechanisms such as monthly strategy meeting, and CDI MBR

You'll make an impact by:

  • Developing the long term strategy for customer data and identity team

  • Driving roadmap sequencing and prioritization

  • Establishing operating mechanisms and rhythm with partner teams

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA required

  • 8+ years in Business Strategy with a top tier consulting firm, ideally with least 3 years of experience in retail, store, eCommerce or Omni environment.

  • Quantitative or technical background is preferred.

  • Sound business judgment as well as ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, scope technical requirements, and prioritize.

  • Must be able and willing to think and act strategically and tactically.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills are crucial, proven ability to influence others internally and externally.

  • Proven experience in developing and executing successful product roadmaps and initiatives.

  • Strong understanding of industry trends, emerging technologies, and market trends in the retail space.

SUNNYVALE, California US-04397:The annual salary range for this position is $143,000.00-$286,000.00

BENTONVILLE, Arkansas US-09401:The annual salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$220,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Social Science, Communications, or related field and 6 years' experience in retail merchandising, operations management, or related area OR 8 years' experience in retail merchandising, operations management, or related area.
