The Job:

As a Director, Manufacturing Quality, you’ll be part of our Outdoor team working as an on-site employee responsible for our Global Quality Function to support the Automotive and Consolidated Aerospace Manufacturing Businesses. The role will be responsible for 10 sites across North America and will interface, collaborate, lead Global Quality improvement initiatives, and will be located in Cleveland OH or Detroit MI, sites of Stanley Black and Decker. This role will drive our Mission to Deliver an Exceptional Customer Experience through Quality Excellence of Products, Processes and Services. You’ll get to:

• Mentor and Lead Quality Managers / Teams reporting structure through building effective teams, training and gap analysis to provide continuous development

• Act as a Business leader and partner across functions to support a Culture of Quality

• Collaborate with Business Partners to support and evolve Business and Quality Initiatives

• Focus on delivering exceptional quality while delivering performance improvements across critical KPIs and development, measuring and tracking of critical KPIs

• Support the Site Quality Managers with management of Quality Audits, Quality Holds, Rework Plans and Corrective Actions to install strong Quality process control to avoid any process escape.

• Leverage Quality Assurance procedures and Control Plan (IQC, IPQC and FQA, control of non-conforming materials) Support formal Safety, Risk Assessment or Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Actions processes.

• Develop, standardize and assist in managing a Regional QMS Approach to the Manufacturing Plants in Owning & maintaining Quality Systems/Documents & ensure the latest AIAG/IATF/AS standards are met.

• Develop and standardize Safe Launch procedures and process controls to ensure components/assemblies meet customer requirements and expectations

• Identify areas for opportunity and work with the respective teams to drive Business, Manufacturing and Quality continuous improvement and change management principles/activity

• Responsibility for Regional management and reduction of the Cost of Poor Quality while improving quality performance across the organization.

• Develop a plan and align with MFG to support and drive Manufacturing Quality Initiatives throughout MFG Footprint

• Drive Evidence based Quality Systems that lead to Preventative Controls for Robust Process Results

• Utilize kaizen style blitz for process improvement and risk mitigation activity

The Person:

• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Quality/Reliability)

• 12+ years of professional and leadership work experience with direct proven experience in the following areas:

• Strong Leadership Skills to set the direction for the Plant Quality Managers, DC Quality Leads and work cross-functionally to achieve results.

• Build and maintain relationships with key leaders across the various functions (quality, engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, marketing, finance, supply chain & compliance) around the globe, in addition to building and maintaining relationships with key component suppliers

• Strong work ethic with site attendance as required to support and weave Quality into MFG

• Strong project management skills, solid analytical skills and a strong attention to detail are required.

• Experience with Quality Management Systems ISO 9001, Aerospace (AS) and Automotive (IATF/AIAG)

• Experience with Quality Assurance Processes and New Product Development

• Ability to understand and utilize standard quality tools (i.e. Lean Six Sigma, APQP/PPAP, DMAIC, GR&R, CpK, SPC, FMEA, Control Plans and problem solving, etc.)

• Experience with market research/insights, focus groups, conjoint analysis, etc a plus.

• Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.

• Ability to think creatively to develop ideas and break through barriers.

• Global experience and interest with willingness to travel & communicate both domestically and globally, including Customer interface to develop, implement and maintain Quality Plans or Issues
