Talen Energy Project Manager in Berwick, Pennsylvania
Talen Energy is seeking a Project Manager for the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station. This position will implement major capital and expense projects for the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station. This includes reviewing identified projects, challenging the assumptions associated with those projects, driving innovative solutions, developing project implementation plans and driving the execution of those plans.
Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, one of the largest dual-unit, Boiling Water Reactor sites in the U.S., delivers approximately 2700 MW of electricity to the grid in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Susquehanna Nuclear is a member in good standing with the Utilities Service Alliance. Responsibilities for Project Manager
Determine and define project scope and objectives
Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner
Prepare budget based on scope of work and resource requirements
Track project costs to meet budget
Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan
Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress
Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables
Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout all phases of project execution
Monitor progress and adjust as needed
Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement
Manages complex projects that have high degrees of enterprise risk and/or are >$5 million dollars in capital spending
Basic Qualifications for Project Manager
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
Ability to solve problems creatively
Familiar with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
Familiar with project management scheduling software
Familiar with project full life cycle and the execution of
Possesses analytical skills
Ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
Technical aptitude is sufficient to guide teams through root cause analysis, problem statement development, and development of potential solutions
Can analyze project options and developing economic cost analysis to aid in selection of most prudent resolution
Team building and conflict resolution attributes necessary to pull together and utilize the personnel on a team effective and efficiently
Basic Qualifications for Senior Project Manager
Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
5-8 years of project management or related experience
Proven ability to solve problems creatively
Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
Experience with Project Management scheduling software
Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle
Excellent analytical skills
Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
Technical knowledge sufficient in guiding teams through root cause analysis, problem statement development and development of potential solutions
Proven ability to analyze project options and develop economic cost analysis to aid in selection of most prudent resolution
Proven team building and conflict resolution attributes necessary to pull together and utilize the personnel on a team effective and efficiently.
Is recognized as an expert in own area within the organization; requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in commercial utilities or nuclear power generation industry
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desired
Additional Requirements
This position requires the individual to obtain and maintain an unescorted access to Susquehanna Steam Electric Station
This position requires the individual to support Emergency Plan by qualifying and performing duties an Emergency Response Organization responder
