We are currently seeking a Nondestructive Testing and Evaluation Engineer to support our NAVSEA Carderock customer. This position is contingent upon contract award. Candidates shall have subject matter expertise and a minimum of seven years of experience in the concepts, practices and theories of one or more NDT&E method including visual testing, magnetic particle testing, dye penetrant testing, ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, eddy current testing, phased array ultrasonic testing, eddy current array testing, computed tomography, computed radiography, digital detector array radiography, acoustic emission, infrared thermography, terahertz imaging, or full matrix capture. Shall have a working understanding of the engineering/research design process with experimental design and trade off studies.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics discipline
Shall have professional knowledge measured by capabilities listed within the resume of Navy and commercial Nondestructive Testing & Evaluation (NDT&E) specifications including:
Nondestructive Testing Methods (NAVSEA T9074-AS-GIB-010-271)
Nondestructive Testing Acceptance Criteria (MIL-STD-2035)
Personnel Qualification and Certification in Nondestructive Testing (ASNT SNT-TC-1A)
Nondestructive Examination Requirements (NAVSEA 250-1500-1)
Nondestructive Examination Requirements for Special Applications (MIL-STD-2132)
Desired Education:
Master’s Degree in Engineering or Physics
Nondestructive Testing (NDT) certifications to NAVSEA T9074-AS-GIB-010/271 or American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) nondestructive testing methodologies are preferred
Experience evaluating risk with nondestructive testing and evaluation decisions for nonconformance to specifications and non-standard applications of nondestructive testing methods
Familiarity with probability of detection (POD) methodologies in Nondestructive Evaluation System Reliability Assessment (MIL-HDBK-1823A) or similar
Familiarity with modeling and simulation of NDT.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
