GAP Solutions Inc Ultrasound Sonographer in Bethesda, Maryland

Position Objective: Provide services as an Ultrasound Sonographer in support of the overall functions of the Clinical Center (CC) within the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The purpose of this position is to support the Clinical Center to perform highly specialized, complex diagnostic and vascular ultrasound examinations. Locates and records internal elements of the body, displays their position and function, and identifies any anomalies indicative of disease, injury, or other medically significant condition. Explain the ultrasound process to patient. Using knowledge and skills optimally positions the patient throughout the study to achieve best images, selects desired technical factors and ensures documentation of a thorough examination. Adjusts and adapts equipment and procedures to accommodate patients while conduct ultrasound exams. Performs operator preventive maintenance and care of equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities: • Schedules and coordinates testing, operates ultrasound equipment and prepares and maintains operational log. • Perform diagnostic procedures using ultrasound equipment, archive imagery, and document results. 1 • Calibrates and maintains ultrasound equipment. • Routinely assess the safety and effectiveness of the equipment and document findings, preparing recommendations for modifications as necessary. 3 • Explains imaging procedures to patients and healthcare providers. • Educate subjects and family members on testing procedures, the equipment, and the exam to ensure understanding and cooperation. • Explains imaging procedure to patients and healthcare providers. • Complete ultrasound worksheets and appropriate study-related documentation that explain test findings to the referring physician. 2 • Assists with developing budgets for ultrasound equipment and facilities. • Assesses testing and medical procedure estimates and recommends necessary increases to equipment, facilities or maintenance services. • Liaisons with and supports technicians, researchers and medical staff as needed. • Liaisons with other technicians, researchers and medical staff regarding ultrasound practices and procedures and scheduling testing. • Clean Equipment • Run Validation • Inspect Equipment • Meet with lab members to present updates

Basic Qualifications: • Associate’s degree in Medical Technologies Technicians or a related field of study • Certified in ARDMS • Skilled in relevant to general and vascular ultrasound • Skilled in MS Office and Data entry skills

Minimum Qualifications: • Ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail. • Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills. • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
