CITY OF BILLINGS TRANSIT SERVICE WORKER in BILLINGS, Montana

The City of Billings Met Transit is seeking a Transit Service Worker to perform a variety of semi-skilled work involved in inspecting, servicing, and maintaining transit system vehicles, buildings, and grounds. Schedule: Monday through Friday with an occasional Saturday. Hours of work to be determined. Salary: $18.1696 - $19.0970 per hour. Salary reflects Step 1 and Step 2 of a 7-step pay scale. Salary at hiring will be dependent upon the applicant's education, experience, and training. Duties: - Check and service automobiles, buses, trucks, and grounds equipment and other equipment. - Wash and clean of interiors and exteriors of vehicles including steaming engines and other mechanical areas. - Assist mechanics as needed during both in facility and on road services; trade out vehicles. - Move vehicles and equipment as needed. - Notify fleet and facilities management of needed resources. - Carry out facility preventive maintenance programs for applicable equipment. - Inspect and make minor repairs on boilers, compressors, hot water heaters, air conditioners and other related equipment. - Perform electrical work. - Maintain heating and plumbing systems. - Maintain drive through commercial bus wash building including pump, electrical system, and brushes. - Maintain on-site grounds systems including fencing, gates, sprinkler systems and other items. - Perform annual fire extinguisher inventory and inspection. - Perform custodial duties, cleaning, and maintenance of facilities. - Perform building maintenance duties in and around MET building. - Perform and assist in snow removal procedures. - Order and maintain facility inventory of routine parts and supplies as directed. - Open for daily operations and secure building and facilities at end of day as assigned. - Assemble, maintain, clean, and repair advertising benches, bus shelters, and other transit amenities. - Install and remove advertising graphics on fleet vehicles. - Assist with orientation and training of new personnel. - Complete required task tracking and reporting. - Assist with facility and fleet inventory services as assigned. Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent. - Minimum of two (2) years facility maintenance experience, or equivalent. - Possession of a Low Pressure Boiler License or must be obtained within ninety (90) days of employment. - Completion of State of Montana Underground Storage Tank Certification process within ninety (90) days of employment. - Possession of a Montana commercial driver's license, Class B, Type 2 with air brake and passenger endorsement or must be obtained within ninety (90) days of employment. - Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, Federal and State criminal background check and a driving record check.
