Budget Title: Staff Associate (SL-4)

Salary: $65,000

The Director of Clinical Experiences for the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Educational Leadership, within the College of Community and Public Affairs, will be responsible for the following:

Leadership of Clinical Education Office

  • Coordinate and manage fieldwork and internship placements, ensuring alignment with program goals and objectives.

  • Solicit faculty input and requests for placement matches, ensuring appropriate and strategic placements.

  • Communicate placement matches to faculty, cooperating teachers, candidates, and district administrators, ensuring clarity and transparency throughout the process.

  • Ensure all candidates meet required fieldwork and internship requirements, overseeing the completion and compliance of all documentation and certifications.

  • Conduct periodic "checkpoints" to confirm cooperating teachers' availability and adjust placements as necessary.

  • Oversee the development and execution of fieldwork and internship orientations and meetings across all programs.

  • Represent the institution in the Clinical Practice Professionals Consortium and serve as a key leader in shaping policies and practices.

  • Address and resolve interpersonal communication challenges that may arise between teacher candidates, cooperating teachers, and supervisors, providing strategic solutions.

  • Provide leadership and oversight for addressing any concerns related to candidates' professional dispositions.

  • Serve as a strategic leader in developing and implementing new initiatives that enhance clinical experiences for teacher candidates.

  • Provide high-level direction for clinical field education policies, ensuring they align with institutional priorities and state certification requirements.

Community Outreach and Partnerships

  • Cultivate and maintain partnerships with local stakeholders, including school districts, community organizations, and other key collaborators.

  • Organize and lead TLEL Clinical Summits and District Advisory Board meetings, ensuring meaningful outcomes and strong collaboration with district partners.

  • Direct the development of community engagement opportunities and lead teacher appreciation recognition initiatives.

  • Oversee the organization and execution of MOUs and affiliation agreements with partner organizations and districts for all of our teacher candidates and related programs. Coordinate these efforts with the advanced program professional staff and faculty.

Program Quality Assurance

  • Collaborate with the Director of Assessment and Accreditation and program faculty to ensure alignment and coherence for all clinical performance-related assessments and quality assurance measures across all programs.

  • Serve as the lead evaluator on Taskstream, our assessment database system, overseeing the Candidate Data Review Forms (DRF) for both Initial and Advanced Programs for all clinical-related items.

  • Evaluate all pre-fieldwork, fieldwork, and internship materials for all teacher candidates in initial preparation programs. Additionally, assess evaluations of candidates' dispositions by cooperating teachers and supervisors during clinical placements.

  • Review clinical assessment data and provide actionable recommendations to enhance program quality and effectiveness.

  • Review and oversee the completion of clinical materials for teacher candidates in the advanced programs by program coordinators to ensure compliance and quality standards.

  • Analyze placement evaluations completed by candidates, ensuring quality and effectiveness in field placements, and share with program faculty.

    Job Requirements:

  • Master's Degree

  • Five plus years of teaching, higher education or related experience

  • Experience with program management and coordination, i.e. recordkeeping and data collection

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated experience with public speaking

  • Willingness to travel occasionally

  • Demonstrated history of collaboration with external stakeholders

Preferred:

  • 2 years K-12 classroom experience

  • Experience with and/or interest in university-assisted community schools and interprofessional practice

  • Experience with Taskstream, Sibme, or similar assessment platform

  • Experience with event planning

  • Master's degree in Education or closely related field
