Ametek Inc. Electro-Mechanical Technician in Binghamton, New York

FUNCTION:

Repairs and maintains Aerospace instruments.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review work orders and prioritizes work.
  • Troubleshoots problems with instruments.
  • Assemble, calibrate and test instruments.
  • Uses and follows work instructions, drawing and billing of materials.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • GED or High School Diploma; no previous experience required.


SKILLS:
  • Ability to work with close tolerances.
  • Ability to use hand tools.
  • Ability to communicate verbally in one-on-one situations with management and co-workers, including the ability to speak simple sentences; listen to others without interrupting and get clarification when needed.
  • Ability to read and comprehend work instructions. Ability to read and understand blue prints. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and procedures furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to operate the equipment and software used in the department, including but not limited to measuring devices, hipot tester, digital meters, and tooling fixtures.
  • Ability to interact in a positive and professional manner and to develop and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers and supervisor.
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Exhibits dependability, including following instructions; responding to supervisor's direction; and taking responsibility for own actions.
  • Ability to take initiative, including asking for and offering help when needed; performs work independently without being prompted
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities; use time efficiently; and work within deadlines.


PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS:

Must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. The employee must occasionally twist or stretch to reach. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes the ability to distinguish color.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • The employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; and occasionally exposed to fumes and repetitive motion.

Salary Minimum: $30, 000

Salary Maximum: $50, 000
