Job Title: Janitorial Environmental Services
Department : Binghamton Housing
Reports to: Facilities Manager
JOB SUMMARY
The position of Janitorial Environmental Services Specialist of great significance as they are responsible for the cleanliness of all VOA’s residential buildings in Binghamton, NY, including, but not limited to 320/322 Chenango, 4 Hamilton, and 240 Chenango. Janitorial Environmental Services Specialist is accountable for upholding the quality and standards of the organization regarding the ongoing housekeeping needs and grounds care of the facilities while working with multiple programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILTIES
Maintains the cleanliness of all areas and programs located in Binghamton.
Additional responsibilities involve garbage removal, restroom cleaning, horizontal surface dusting and spot vacuuming, as well as resupplying paper products.
Disposes of all garbage and recycling located in receptacles located throughout the buildings and place in dumpster.
Cleans and sanitizes all bathrooms on a daily basis.
Mops floors on a daily basis.
Maintains the grounds including garbage removal through out the grounds area.
Shovel as needed sidewalk of the facility and salt.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
Team-oriented and collaborative
Clean Driver’s License
Ability to pass federal background clearance
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Flexibility to meet the needs of multiple programs
Able to work with others (staff and volunteers)
Self starter and independent
Able to assess cleaning and grounds needs of facility and meet agency standards

Performing the duties of this job requires the ability to walk, standing in and bending around the residential setting building and outside environmental care. Must be able to occasionally lift loads of 30 pounds without assistance and the ability to sit, talk and hear is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

The majority of essential duties are performed indoors with occasional outdoor duties within a residential setting. Being located through the facility may expose the employee to drafts and temperature fluctuations. Individual will experience exposure to a variety of environmental conditions, including inclement weather, wet and/or humid conditions, excessive heat or cold, dirt, dust, fumes from cleaning products.
RESPONSIBILITY OF OTHERS
The employee has no direct responsibility of others. However may need to direct volunteer as needed and assign job tasks.
