Budget Title: Staff Assistant (SL-2)

Salary: $49,261+ (dependent on experience)

This is a full-time, calendar year appointment primarily supporting the Translation, Research Instruction Program, and will also support another Harpur program, yet to be determined, for approximately 75%/25% split of their time.

This position will support the general administrative processing needs of the Translation Research and Instruction Program (TRIP), including but not limited to course building, scheduling, coordinating with other departments, serving as the liaison between the TRIP director and other professional staff with respect to administrative matters, course and independent study registration for graduate students, record keeping, and gathering research and statistical data by request. Budget tasks include assisting in the planning and preparation of the program's budget, general budget monitoring, purchasing, maintaining the office budget, and reimbursement processing and reconciliations. Other duties include support for event planning, website management, graduate student examination scheduling and tracking in DegreeWorks, file management (e.g., collecting theses and dissertations, graduate school paperwork for admissions, funding, syllabi), space management of the TA office, processing HR paperwork, monitoring appointments for faculty, visiting scholars, and graduate students with respect to operative dates for contract renewal, maintaining listservs and other communications with students and faculty.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree with a minimum of 2 years of administrative experience

  • Effective interpersonal and organizations skills

  • Excellent computer skills and a willingness to become adept in new university software packages and procedures

  • Strong organization and time management skills including the ability to prioritize workload

  • Proficient with Google Office Suite

  • Expertise in use of spreadsheets and databases

  • Effective written and oral communication skills

  • The ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality regarding all matters relating to the college, and the university

  • A commitment to a culture of diversity, equity, respect and inclusion; demonstrated ability to build working relationships with people having a wide variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences

Preferred:

  • Experience with budget management
