Summary

Spire is seeking an Emissions Analyst to work at either the St. Louis, Kansas City, or Birmingham Spire business office location. This position will focus on data collection, documentation, verification, data management, analysis and planning of Spire operational emissions and associated information required to be reported to federal, state and local regulatory authorities. This position will assist Environmental Commitment with voluntary reporting to industry groups such as the American Gas Association and ONE Future and other entities as assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collect and maintain asset data required for emissions calculations and/or measurement.

  • Analyze and assess documents, files, and data to be used in reporting and project development.

  • Develop reports and presentations for internal and external audiences.

  • Work with the Sustainability Department to automate Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) data gathering and reporting through establishing connections from various company systems of record.

  • Manage tracking and reporting of key performance indicators related to Environmental Compliance.

  • Support the data gathering, calculations, writing, design, and overall development of the Company’s regulated emissions reporting and permitting calculations.

  • Assist Environmental Compliance and Sustainability with compliance and voluntary reporting to agencies/frameworks.

  • Work closely with outside service providers that assist with emissions reduction initiatives, including assisting with the selection of such providers.

  • Assist Sustainability developing emissions and carbon footprint reduction strategies and solutions, and scout for new technologies and best practices.

  • Help determine process improvements in our Company emission reduction initiatives and support implementation of market best practices.

  • Draft and develop trainings on emissions awareness and reduction topics to further ESG awareness throughout the Company.

  • Assist Sustainability track voluntary environmental metrics and progress toward goals.

  • Cross train on environmental compliance matters, such as waste management, field inspections and permitting.

  • Perform other related and assigned duties as necessary.

Required Education (certifications, licenses)

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study from an accredited college or university.

  • Preferred advanced education and/or certifications in sustainability, environmental science, or other related fields.

Required knowledge, skill and abilities

  • Two years of relevant emissions analysis, sustainability or environmental experience or post-graduate related degree (preferred).

  • Experience in the natural gas industry (preferred).

  • SharePoint, and PowerPoint).

  • Knowledge of sustainability data gathering, database management, and data analysis (preferred).

  • Experience working in business intelligence software such as Tableau and OBIEE (preferred).

  • Knowledge of analytical and quantitative skills (preferred).

  • Knowledge of ESG data collection software (preferred).

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook,

Physical demands, environment and schedule

  • Work Environment: Work is normally performed in a shared office environment.

  • Occasional outdoor work in varied weather. When conducting field work, may be exposed to natural gas and other chemicals, extreme hot and cold outdoor temperatures, near moving mechanical parts, exposed to moderate to loud noise level, and work near traffic.

  • Working Hours: Typically, 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday.

  • Overtime may be required to meet strict deadlines

  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required.
