Actalent Microbiology Technician 2nd Shift in Birmingham, Alabama

Job Title: Microbiology Technician 2nd ShiftJob Description

This role requires a sound understanding of various routine activities in microbiology. Key responsibilities include environmental monitoring using active/passive air sampling and RODAC/swab surface sampling methods for bacteria and fungi detection, as well as CliMet air sampling methods for total particulate detection. You will trend data to detect anomalies and characterize microflora. Utility testing includes city water for microbial count and absence of enteric organisms, as well as pre-treat water, clean steam, Water for Injection, nitrogen, and process air for microbial count and endotoxin presence. You will use classical microbiological methods for microorganism identification and perform validation activities such as biological indicator recovery, bioburden rinse/swab, endotoxin rinse, and endotoxin challenge vial testing. Data analysis and entry into software systems like Microbiology Information Management Systems (MIMS) is required. You will document test results and conclusions in a GMP manner, ensuring test forms are complete before submission for approval. Compliance with quality systems and adherence to all safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures is mandatory. All laboratory activities must be conducted safely, utilizing MSDS to establish chemical hazards and observing appropriate laboratory procedures.
