AMERICAN Cast Iron Pipe Company (ACIPCO) Project Coordinator - ADIP (1122198) in Birmingham, Alabama

At AMERICAN, the Project Coordinator single point of contact for the service and project management of customer related issues. Customer service and project management is provided through immediate, direct assistance and decision making for all customer requests. In addition to being the customer/company liaison for all order management issues, including bidder questions and quotes, status inquiries, changes, substitutions, complaints, claims and back charges, the Project Coordinator is responsible for proactive anticipation and management of customer service-related needs. The Project Coordinator will also act as "Virtual" Team Leader, coordinating supplemental team members throughout the organization, including Sales Engineers, Manufacturing, Shipping, Accounting, Credit, Purchasing, Take-off, and Drafting personnel. The Project Coordinator will also be responsible for project documentation.


Ideal Candidate

  • 5 years of customer service experience in a technical environment.
  • Technical experience or related training in drafting and engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree or Associates degree with college courses completed in engineering, math, business administration or marketing.
  • Demonstrate the ability to read, comprehend and analyze technical information including blueprints and quotation cut sheets.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of AMERICAN products and applications.
  • Demonstrate sales ability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Order Management:Enters customer orders into the computer system for manufacture and shipment.Monitors orders to ensure timely shipment.
  • Reporting and Analysis:Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly reports as requested by management to maintain normal operations of the department.
  • Customer Relations:Initiates material return requests and credits as needed to maintain the reputation of the product and customer relations.Coordinates resolution of all customer-related issues by acting as Team Leader for all Virtual Teams created to assist the project coordinator in serving the customer.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must demonstrate proficiency in operating common Windows-based business computer software, including spread sheet and word processing programs.
  • Must exhibit ability to work mathematical calculations, which typically relate to quotes and credit decisions, accurately.
  • Must demonstrate aptitude for reading and understanding technical drawings and information.
  • Must demonstrate ability to gain thorough understanding of AMERICAN's products and applications.
  • Must demonstrate ability to be resourceful in answering customer needs with AMERICAN products.
  • Must have direct experience, or related supporting role, in a Customer Service/Account Resolution-type department.
  • Must be willing to participate in extensive and ongoing customer service training programs.
  • Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
