Role Summary
The Associate Director, Pipeline and Innovation, serves as a pivotal member of the Center for Scientific Exchange Excellence (CSEE), reporting directly to the Learning Architect Director. This role is essential for improving the skills of Field Medical (FM) team members with pipeline responsibilities, focusing on identifying training needs and developing tailored learning solutions for product approvals and scientific exchange.
In this position, the Associate Director will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering contextualized scientific training programs that foster the necessary knowledge and skills for high-quality scientific engagements. Utilizing a variety of instructional methodologies, the Associate Director will support FM team members with pipeline responsibilities in their quest to improve their proficiency in scientific engagement.
Collaboration is key in this role, as the Associate Director will work closely with CSEE team members, regional leadership, external vendors, and learners to ensure that all training offerings are strategically aligned with the organization's business needs and Value & Implementation priorities. Furthermore, the Associate Director will support the development of comprehensive learning experiences for both new and experienced FM professionals, with the goal of enhancing their scientific engagement and communication capabilities.
This role requires a proactive mindset to promote a culture of continuous learning and development, ensuring that all FM teams are equipped with the essential skills to succeed and meet organizational objectives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to educational excellence and an ability to adapt to the evolving needs of the FM pipeline teams.
Responsibilities and Primary Activities
Conduct comprehensive needs assessments through surveys and team interviews to identify skill and knowledge gaps pertinent to FM team members with pipeline responsibilities and their specific therapeutic areas.
Collaborate with FM team members with pipeline responsibilities to develop customized training programs and educational resources that address identified needs, including approval readiness and scientific engagement.
Facilitate workshops and training sessions, both in-person and virtual, to deliver effective learning experiences for FM team members with pipeline responsibilities.
Partner with cross-functional teams, including Global Scientific Training and regional stakeholders, to effectively embed skills and scenario training within various training initiatives.
Facilitate the early adoption of new and innovative learning experiences to enhance just-in-time training and support asynchronous training that occurs in the flow of work.
Manage relationships with vendors and external partners to develop and deliver cutting-edge training solutions.
Maintain awareness of industry trends and advancements in training methodologies to continually enhance learning experiences and resources.
Conduct training needs assessments and post-program evaluations to assess effectiveness and impact, and provide recommendations for enhancing our offerings based on the findings.
Engage with key stakeholders to understand their training needs and create a continuous feedback loop that ensures stakeholder input is effectively incorporated into training initiatives.
Serve as a subject matter expert on the role of the FM Professional and the skills needed for scientific exchange excellence, acting as a consultant to CSEE team members and vendors as they design and develop their learning experiences.
Required Qualifications, Skills, & Experience
Minimum
Credentialed (i.e., PhD, PharmD, DNP, MD, or equivalent degree)
≥2 years Field Medical experience
Medical Affairs experience/knowledge
Thorough understanding of Field Medical roles and responsibilities
Experience and success in cross-functional teamwork
Strong communication and persuasive/influencing skills
Ability to lead without direct authority over a continuum of stakeholders
Preferred
≥5 years in the pharmaceutical industry
Experience in a training related function (e.g., creating training curricula and content)
Proficiency with project/vendor management
Experience working on global initiatives

U.S. Hybrid Work Model

The Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job in certain states and cities within the United States. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.
Expected US salary range:
$164,800.00 - $259,400.00
