Position Title: Data Architect

Position Purpose:

The Data Architect will be responsible for designing, creating, deploying, and managing our organization’s data architecture. This role involves defining how the data will be stored, consumed, integrated, and managed by different data entities and IT systems, as well as any applications using or processing that data. The Data Architect will oversee the creation and maintenance of a robust and scalable database architecture that can handle large volumes of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.

Essential Duties:

  • Design and implement effective database solutions and models to store and retrieve company data.

  • Examine and identify database structural necessities by evaluating operations, applications, and programs.

  • Establish processes for combining data from various sources and integrating it into the data architecture.

  • Assess database implementation procedures to ensure they comply with internal and external regulations.

  • Oversee the migration of data from legacy systems to new solutions.

  • Recommend solutions to improve new and existing database systems.

  • Monitor the system performance by performing regular tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new features.

  • Install and organize information systems to guarantee company functionality.

  • Prepare accurate database design and architecture reports for management and executive teams.

  • Document data processes, assumptions, and methodologies.

  • Recommend improvements in data management and governance based on findings.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and best practices.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer programming, data science, software development, information technology, computer or software engineering, or a related field, and 7 years of related IT experience; or

  • Related two-year degree; and 9 years of related IT experience; or

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED); and 11 years of related IT experience.

  • Proven experience as a Data Architect, Database Administrator, or similar role.

  • Expertise in Structured Query Language (SQL) and database management systems.

  • In-depth understanding of database structure principles.

  • Experience gathering and analyzing system requirements.

  • Able to create, access, input, retrieve, and manipulate information in various software systems.

  • Knowledge of data mining and segmentation techniques.

  • Experience with cloud-based data solutions.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Proficient with personal computers and Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.

  • Must be highly self-motivated, self-directed, and attentive to detail.

  • Excellent interpersonal and team building skills.

  • A valid driver’s license.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:

This position requires frequent sitting and standing/walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures, and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. Will work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Some travel may be required.
