Northern Plains Laboratory Microbiology Supervisor in Bismarck, North Dakota

[Assures appropriate staffing by developing work schedules, replacing vacancies and/or performing routine work duties to cover staffing situations. [Coordinates and directs the activities of other employees. [Provides team leadership by addressing questions, exchanging ideas, evaluating complex situations and suggesting solutions and/or jointly arriving at decisions in a positive and timely manner. [Participates in the administration of personnel management activities such as interviewing and hiring, training, discipline and evaluation of staff. [Develops and maintains policies and procedures which are in compliance with all Federal Laws, State Laws and accreditation standards. This may include test performance, competency assessment, proficiency testing, billing, coding, HIPAA, human resources and compliance. [Provides advice to management in the development of long and short term budget, cost study, business goals and activities of the department. [Manages the department so operating expenses are within budget. [Utilizes data collection tools and graphical charts to collate, analyze and report quality management data. Carries out the leadership teams prescribed actions following data evaluation. [Preserves security and confidentiality of information as required by HIPAA and other state and federal regulations. [Works cooperatively on leadership teams to enhance the services of NPL. [Ensures prompt, quality and appropriate lab testing by overseeing the implementation, performance and interpretation of various routine and complex laboratory tests. [Performs supervisory functions such as participating in call and serving on inspection teams. [Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. [Serves and protects the laboratory by adhering to safety standards and policies and requires compliance by staff. [Meets established deadlines for project assignments, competency and policy and procedure reviews. [Freedom from direct supervison. [Fulfills regulatory duties as delegated by the Laboratory Medical Director. [Ability to create, interpret and negotiate contracts of major scope and impact to the institution May require 24 hour on-call duties [Education and Experience: [Licensed by the North Dakota Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice as a Medical Technologist (ASCP) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist I. [Must have 5 years experience as a technologist in a clinical laboratory, and have shown potential interest and skills in supervisory functions.
