CHI St. Alexius Health is a regional health network with a tertiary hospital in Bismarck, the system also consists of critical access hospitals (CAHs) in Carrington, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Garrison, Turtle Lake, Washburn and Williston and numerous clinics and outpatient services. CHI St. Alexius Health manages four CAHs in North Dakota - Elgin, Linton, and Wishek, as well as Mobridge Regional Medical Center in Mobridge, S.D. Responsibilities

Job Summary / Purpose

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

  • Edits radiology report dictation efficiently making necessary changes to ensure high accuracy and timely reporting.

  • Works professionally with radiologists, in user application of dictation and editing systems, assisting with dictation system function. Assist with training dictator on system functionality.

  • Demonstrates system application knowledge. Able to skillfully troubleshoot problems with Dictation and Report Routing Systems.

  • Verifies printing and distribution of all permanent recorded reports via Routing and Faxing systems. Maintains accuracy of routing and fax numbers for successful report distribution.

  • Effectively and efficiently retrieves and communicates exam reports to authorized personnel when requested, practicing confidentiality following HIPAA policies, and professional telephone etiquette.

  • Collects and reviews RIS requests, reports, ER monitor slips and other forms of documentation for quality assurance.

  • Assists and supports PACS related duties.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Required Education for Staff Job Levels

Graduate of an approved program leading to an Associate’s degree. Program focus to be medical office electronic medical record systems and procedures as well as medical transcription/editing. Experience in medical transcription will be considered in lieu of formal education.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Information systems, software program and computer applications skills.

Organizational skills

Typing speed 40 words per minute

Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, spelling and proper grammar

PREFERRED Qualifications

Preference for four years’ experience as a Medical Transcriptionist/Secretary. Experience in working with voice recognition systems

Pay Range

$13.40 - $17.92 /hour
