Director of Operations to direct and manage all plant operations with overall responsibilities for safety, production, maintenance, quality and other production-related activities. The Director of Operations will collaborate with departmental managers to create budgets and develop business plans. The ideal candidate for this position has proven leadership skills, lean manufacturing implementation, as well as a strong ability to problem solve and make sound decisions that encourage corporate growth.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing operation business plans to include all program requirements, labor hours, cycle, production costs, and image.

  • Establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.

  • Provide guidance to the development of a manufacturing process plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs.

  • Ensure all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met.

  • Oversee and guide the coordination of manufacturing activities with all other functions of the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.

  • Review production and operating reports and direct the resolution of operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

  • Ensure plans are developed for efficient use of material, machines and employees.

  • Review production costs and product quality, and modify production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of departments.

  • Direct preparation of accounting reports.

  • Recommend budget to management.

  • Confer with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.

  • Direct production activities and establish production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.

  • Oversee production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.

  • Review and analyze production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems.

  • Develop and implement operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.

  • Ensure production schedules and priorities are revised as result of equipment failure or operating problems.

  • Consult with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.

  • Manage compliance with state and federal regulations.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (engineering, business management) required.

  • Master's degree preferred.

MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISON:

  • Direct Management of Blauvelt, NY operations personnel

  • Ensure company policies are followed

  • Enforce company safety policies

    Qualifications :

  • Proven experience as a Director of Operations or equivalent position

  • Minimum 10+ years’ related experience in manufacturing, mechanical, and welding preferred.

  • Solid Lean/Six Sigma background

  • Demonstrated track record of professional leadership and excellence.

  • Experience managing manufacturing plants with the understanding and ability to make appropriate decisions that drive positive financial performance.

  • Lean Manufacturing implementation experience and proven results

  • Understanding with both union and nonunion populations and labor relations, ideally in a manufacturing environment.

  • Travel 20%

    *PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • The employee is frequently required to walk 2-5 miles a day, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
