The Cigna Group Network Operations Sr. Advisor - IFP (Hybrid) in Bloomfield, Connecticut

This role is a Hybrid role that will be aligned to a Cigna office and work three days in office.

Job Summary:

This position serves as a key member of the Individual and Family Plans (IFP) Provider Engagement and Contract Strategy team and reports to the National Contract Strategy Lead for IFP. This role will be accountable for the strategic direction of IFP contracting and network management activities in a local geography and will also influence direct provider negotiation in the aligned geography.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead local strategy for IFP fee-for-service and capitation contracting including tactics and use of competitive intelligence that drives improved outcomes in fee-for-service negotiations.

  • Develop and be accountable for execution of overall strategy for provider contracting, network development and identification of opportunities for greater value-based and risk arrangements.

  • Identify and solve for gaps in Cigna’s current IFP contracting process using prior IFP contracting and local market experience.

  • Influence negotiations for fee-for-service and sophisticated value-based reimbursements with hospitals and other providers (e.g., Hospital systems, Ancillaries, and large physician groups) that are tied to multiple Cigna lines of business.

  • Work with IFP segment resources and local market contracting team to create health care professional agreements that meet internal operational standards and external provider expectations.

  • Identify and escalate significant contracting issues to IFP leadership and develop and communicate solutions to IFP and local market leaders.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years contracting and negotiating experience in the local market involving complex delivery systems and organizations for IFP business required.

  • Should possess a bachelor degree; preferably in the areas of Finance, Economics, Healthcare or Business related. Significant industry experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor degree. MBA or MHA preferred.

  • Experience in developing and managing key provider relationships including senior executives in the local market.

  • Knowledge of complex reimbursement methodologies, including incentive based models required.

  • Intimate understanding and experience with larger, more complex integrated delivery systems, managed care, and provider business models.

  • Team player with proven ability to develop strong working relationships within a fast-paced, matrix organization.

  • The ability to influence both sales and provider audiences through strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience with formal presentations.

  • Superior problem solving, decision-making, negotiating skills, contract language and financial acumen.

  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office tools.

  • 25%-30% Travel Required

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 96,900 - 161,500 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
