Actalent Entry Level Geologist in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania

Job Title: Entry Level Field Geophysicist/Geologist

Job Description

Actalent is in search of a Field Geologist in either Blue Bell, PA or Moorestown, NJ to join one of our largest environmental engineering clients. The successful candidate will apply sound engineering or geologic principles, communicate clearly and concisely, and be proficient with Microsoft Office and 2D AutoCAD. The role involves performing basic geophysical field surveys, observing and documenting geotechnical and geologic investigations, and working under the guidance of professional engineers and other staff. The job requires travel and overnight stays in various locations such as Harrisburg, Long Island, West Chester, Delaware, and occasionally NY and Maryland.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.

  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.

  • Conducting geophysical surveys and making recommendations for design on smaller projects of minimal complexity

  • May assist Geophysicists on large, more complex projects.

  • Performs site visits, field observations and field data collection or assignments.

  • Direct and supervise field staff to sample, test and collect data and/or document site activities.

  • Responsible for developing written proposals to clients for approval by management.

  • Evaluates moderately complex geophysical data and assembles in written reports.

Qualifications

  • 0-1 years experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, engineering geology, or geological engineering

  • Concentration in Geophysics preferred

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and 2D AutoCAD

  • Ability to learn and operate company-developed desktop and mobile applications

Soft Skills

  • Clear and concise communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to work under supervision and guidance

  • Willingness to travel and stay overnight frequently

Work Environment

The role involves fieldwork with significant travel, some office work for meetings, training, lab testing, and occasional in-office duties. 70% in the field and 30% office work.
