Pay Rate :

$68,300 - $91,000

Multiple factors, including Individual experience, skills and abilities will determine where an employee is ultimately placed in the pay range.

Variable pay may provide additional opportunities for financial awards. This job is eligible to participate in IP’s short –term incentive plan.

The Job You Will Perform:

The Mill Occupational Health Nurse is responsible for the implementation of the company’s Occupational Health Program which provides all employees at the work site with preventive occupational health services. The nurse supports company initiatives through a program that seeks to achieve a workplace free of work-related injuries and illnesses, comply with regulatory agency health-related requirements (OSHA, American with Disability Act, Department of Transportation regulations), and improve employee productivity and morale by preventing health-related work absences. This position reports directly to the Safety Manager.

  • The Mill Nurse will provide leadership for the mill’s Occupational Health Program by maintaining strong relationships with other EHS personnel as well as personnel throughout the mill.

  • The Mill Nurse will provide leadership for the mill’s Occupational Health Program by maintaining strong relationships with other EHS personnel as well as personnel throughout the mill.

  • Manage all systems of the Occupational Health Program

  • Administer first aid and/or medical assistance as needed for work related injuries/illnesses

  • Provide medical support to the Mill’s Emergency Response Team

  • Work closely with the mill physician on individual employee care, including attending off site appointments for work related injuries

  • Act as point person for all workers compensation claims

  • Establish and maintain close working relationships with off-site occupational and emergency treatment facilities

  • Manage overall system and conduct routine medical testing as required by OSHA and company policy

  • Experience in Hearing Conservation (COHC – Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist)

  • Experience in spirometry testing and respirator fit testing

  • Promote employee health and wellness, which may include organizing and implementing health screening activities for mill personnel periodically through the year

  • Collect urine for post offer, random, return-to-work, post-accident, suspicion/cause, and job transfers as needed

  • Coordinate and schedule approved medical waste disposal program

  • Assist in conducting company safety and health orientations

  • Document treatments, maintain call log, medical records, complete all filing, ordering of supplies, approve and process all billing to appropriate party for payment

  • Ensure that program goals as well as business needs are met in a cost effective manner

  • Participate in the implementation and evaluation of the occupational health program by working with the facility and corporate staff

  • Maintain familiarity with business processes and potential health hazards in each work area

  • Visit work areas to meet with hourly employees and management

  • Facilitate the implementation of new procedures and controls as required

The Skills You Will Bring:

  • Successful candidate must have a current unrestricted nursing license in the state of Louisiana.

  • Minimum of five years of experience as a nurse including ER, OR, or Adult Critical Care is desired.

  • Experience in Occupational Health Nursing, with certification in Occupational Health Nursing, is preferred.

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment is also desired.

  • Utilize the International Paper Change Process to drive change

  • Utilize strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks effectively
