Position:Garden Center Groundskeeper with Delivery Responsibilities

Position Type:Permanent Part-time Position 12 to 16 hours a week depending on season

Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9am to 1pm

Hourly Wage:\$10 to \$15/hr. depending on gardening and landscaping experience, plant knowledge

Responsibilities:

Greet and direct customers to plants, tools, supplies, amendments, etc.

Assist customers with plant and product selection

Maintain the grounds and gardens at the nursery including blowing, planting, weeding, pruning, fertilizing, and parking lot, back road and perimeter bed maintenance, etc.

Manage delivery services, including providing estimates, processing payments, scheduling and performing delivery

Provide weekly care for large tree and B&B plant materials including watering, pruning, fertilizing and inspect for pest and disease and treat same

Operate the weir and complete irrigation of grounds, trees and B&B plant materials

Make basic repairs throughout grounds and buildings such as repair sprinkler lines/clean heads, faucets, fixtures, outdoor lighting, etc.

Greet and direct customers to plants, tools, supplies, amendments, etc.

Assist customers with plant and product selection

Process transactions on POS system including services fees

Load and unload plants, hard goods and other products

Assist with pricing, stocking and merchandising of plants, hard goods and other products, including setting up fountains, outdoor furniture, trellis, arbors, etc.

Uphold company policies and procedures

Minimum Qualifications:

Broad knowledge of ornamental plants and gardening/landscaping practices in residential settings

2 years experience with gardening/landscaping, irrigation systems, pruning, pest/disease control, etc.

2 years of retail customer experience

Excellent communication, coordination and time management skills

Positive, can-do, creative, solution-oriented, initiative-taking and team-driven attitude

Ability to take direction, work independently and with a team, and balance multi-tasking

Proficient with POS system and computer programs such as word, excel, email

Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, stand long periods of time and bend, lift and squat regularly

Ability to work outside in all types of weather year round

Willingness to continue to learn and implement knowledge and skills in the nursery

Valid drivers license; skid-steer or forklift experience helpful

Educational background, training, and certifications as applicable
