HP Inc. Solutions Partner Developer Support Engineer  in Boise, Idaho

Job Summary

In this role, you will be leading a team of contracted developers supporting HP's largest and fastest growing 3rd party software and app developers using modern support experiences.

 You will be interacting directly with the R&D to root cause critical partner issues as they implement solutions and applications using HP's Software Development Kits (SDK). You will have influence on future products' design and become a technical focal point for Print Solutions that have become critical for HP's success! 

Engineering Program Manager description: Applies advanced subject matter knowledge to solve complex business issues and is regarded as a subject matter expert. Frequently contributes to the development of new ideas and methods. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. Leads and/or provides expertise to functional project teams and may participate in cross-functional initiatives. Acts as an expert providing direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies. Represents the organization to external customers/clients/partners. Exercises significant independent judgment within broadly defined policies and practices to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives. Provides mentoring and guidance to the team of contingent workers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage technical elevations from our software development partners, collaborating with them and R&D to drive resolution to their issues. 

  • Provide oversight and guidance to contingent workers responsible for first level developer support 

  • Create and maintain technical documentation to address issues affecting the performance of the products and SDKs. 

  • Communicate escalations and issue analysis to product stakeholders; collaborate with management and internal development partners to recommend and implement changes to product, processes, or business practices to resolve escalated issues, produce solutions, and ensure adherence to established product roadmaps and schedules 

  • Lead and provide guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members. 

Education & Experience Recommended

  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.

  • Typically has 7-10 years of work experience, preferably in engineering development and implementation, project planning tools and software packages, people management, or a related field.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Familiarity with concepts around SDKs, extensibility plugins ('solutions'), abstraction layers and the possible pitfalls - resource usage, crashes in shared process space, stacked solutions 

  • Familiarity with SOAP and REST Web Services, C#, Java, JavaScript, the Android development environment and Full Stack web development.  

  • Familiarity with pull print, capture and route, authentication, authorization, statistics, quota, and Cloud solutions, and networking (wireshark) debugging skills and printer firmware experience 

  • Basic understanding of coding best practices and code review  

  • Basic understanding of network protocols (TLS 1.x, certificate chains, HTTP(s), SNMP, IPP) 

  • Skills in debugging through triage data, ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills to find the root cause of complex system issues 

  • Experience with requirements/defect tracking in JIRA and other tools  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language 

  • Ability to effectively communicate program plans, proposals, and results, and negotiate options at senior management levels. 

  • Ability to understand and influence technical requirements and opportunities 

  • Demonstrated skills in proactive internal cross-team communication 

  • Existing customer or partner support experience is desirable

The base pay range for this role is $115,850 to $178,400 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to US candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
