Description

Lee County Parks and Recreation is looking for a dedicated and energetic Lifeguard to join our team at the Pine Island Community Pool!

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Lifeguard, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of all pool guests. Your key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising the pool: Ensure a safe and orderly environment for all swimmers.

  • Teaching aquatic programs: Lead engaging lessons that promote water safety and fitness.

  • Pool maintenance: Keep the pool clean and well-maintained to meet health and safety standards.

  • Daily operations: Assist the Program Supervisor with tracking daily revenue, conducting safety inspections, completing reports, and managing class schedules.

  • Special events: Help organize and assist with special community events as assigned.

Education, Experience, Licensing

  • Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED, with at least 6 months of lifeguarding, recreation, or teaching experience.

  • Certifications: Must hold current Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR certifications.

  • Required within 6 months: Water Safety Instructor certification and Aquatics Facility Operator license (guidance provided by our team).

  • Additional Requirements: A valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

    Preferred Requirements:

  • Aquatics Facility Operator (AFO) license.

  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification.

Supplemental Information

  • Previous lifeguarding experience.

  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to interact with the public professionally.

  • Physical ability to swim effectively and perform rescues if needed.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.

  • Basic math skills for report preparation and tracking revenue.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to operate basic office equipment for clerical tasks.

  • Familiarity with current trends in parks and recreation programs.

Work Schedule:

  • Your work schedule will vary, including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Flexibility is key to success in this role!
