Responsibility for the overall efficient operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment plant, including the facilities for an activated sludge process and solids disposal. The incumbent is expected to supervise and maintain the operation of machinery and equipment at the plant; ensure the readings of meters and gauges and related records dealing with plan operations are properly maintained; directs and participates in the treatment and disposal of sludge; determines the necessity of adding chlorine to sewage; directs and participates in the taking of samples for testing purposes; trains subordinate employees as necessary; assists in general cleaning and custodial duties at the plant.
