This position is for a full-time, 12-month, unclassified, staff position.

This is a grant funded position.

Minimum Qualifications

Current, unencumbered Louisiana Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure. Bachelors of Science in Nursing or MSN preferred. A minimum of two (2) years nursingexperience of which one(1) year must be in a long-term care facility (Nursing Home); experience in varied responsibilities including, but not limited to, direct resident care or supervision and staff education. If they are also going to act as an instructor, must have a minimum of 2 years’nursingexperience in a long-term care facility. Must haveone of the following: Vocational Technical Industrial Education (VTIE), Career and Technical Trade and Industrial Education (CTTIE), master’s degree or above, or Train the Trainer certificate. If candidate has Masters’ of Science in Nursing (MSN), will not require Train the Trainer. Demonstrated leadership work experience. Experience teaching adults is preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Valid driver’s license required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear and handle or feel objects and controls. Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office equipment such as, but not limited to, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 10 pounds. Must be capable of sitting in stationary position for 50% or more of time. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Job Concepts

The Program Manager provides supervision, development and coordination for the daily management of all non-credit health care programs within the Division of Nursing and Allied Health.

Examples of Work

Daily management of all non-credit health care programs within the Division of Nursing and Allied Health. Seek out additional short-term programs for approval through their respective agencies. Supervise the daily activities of the BPCC CNA program, instructors and students, in accordance with DHH rules and regulations. Maintain an approved CNA program curriculum, handbook and required DHH documentation. Coordinate State inspection with DHH biannually, State program report to DHH biannually on alternate years. Organize and prepare instructors for program instruction. Participate in student orientation prior to the program course. Act as the CNA Program liaison for nursing facilities, clinical sites and community outreach. Actively recruit prospective students and qualified instructors for programs. Participate in continuing education to improve evaluation skills and maintain competencies. Schedule classes and instructors each semester and arrange a PRN instructor as necessary in instructors’ absence. Record keeping of documentation: maintain students’ qualification of enrollment, students’ attendance and grades while in the program, end of program paperwork and Prometric state exam testing submissions and student applications. Maintain and oversee CNA state exam Prometric testing by: scheduling testing, aiding students through the application process, preparing testing site for nurse evaluators for each testing event and updating testing policies. Counsel students throughout the CNA course as needed. Participate in meetings and serve on assigned committees that are consistent with the goals of the education program and the college. Collaborate with division staff and faculty to identify opportunities for student completion and success. Work with off-campus instructional sites in delivering programs for noncredit or for-credit CNA instruction. Actively seek funding opportunities for sustaining or implementing new noncredit medical programs. Provide data for reporting to the Office of Academic Affairs and the Division of Nursing and Allied Health
