Nike Director, Data Management & Analytics, Product Creation & Merchandising in Boston, Massachusetts

Data is at the heart of everything we do at Converse. But how can we use our data most effectively to make better decisions? How can we go beyond an understanding of what happened, towards an understanding of what will happen, and even further to a point where we know what actions we can take to maximize our chances of the best outcomes? How do we ensure that our data is clean, accurate and available when needed both to drive decision-making as well as fuel downstream processes?

Who we are looking for

As the Director of Data Management & Analytics for the Product Creation and Merchandising organization at Converse, you will be focused on answering the above questions and many more. You will ensure that our Design, Development and Merchandising team members have the data and insights they need to create and sell products that consumers will love!

What you will work on

In addition to a passion for footwear and a solid understanding of our business, you will bring a proven track record building and leading data and insights organizations, with a focus on insights being tied to optimized decisions and actions. You will be a powerful data and insights storyteller, able to communicate the ‘so what’ behind the data to audiences at all levels. You will have a passion for data governance and data quality, with experience driving alignment and standards around data definitions and metrics. You will bring strong change management capabilities, with a focus on driving adoption of data and insights capabilities. Finally, you will have an automation mentality with a bias towards identifying manual processes that can be systematized.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or related experience or combination of relevant education, experience and training

  • 5+ years professional experience in data and insights roles, with some of that experience spent leading teams of data/reporting analysts; Experience in a Footwear/Apparel retail environment strongly preferred

  • Experience with reporting and data visualization tools (we use Tableau, Sigma and Excel at Converse). Experience with advanced analytics (predictive modeling, optimization, etc.) preferred

  • Strong communication skills; Ability to engage with senior partners on key business questions and hypotheses and tell compelling stories through data and insights

  • Critical thinking and prioritization skills: You will be setting the team goals and strategies in order to achieve the broader organizational goals

  • Experience with data governance, driving alignment around metrics and data definitions across a broad spectrum of partners; experience dealing with data quality issues through systems and technology as well as process and behavior change

  • Automation mindset; Identify opportunities to automate insights generation work and ability to partner with Automation and Technology teams to implement solutions where possible

  • Experience working in an agile context, delivering capabilities in an iterative/test and learn fashion
