American Tower Director Tax Strategy in Boston, Massachusetts
The Team
We are seeking a Director, Tax Strategy to join American Tower’s Corporate Tax Department. The Global Tax Strategy team forecasts and manages global cash taxes, analyzes and implements tax planning ideas, assists with mergers and acquisitions (“M&A”), analyzes legislative changes and the impacts on the Company, manages income tax audits, provides guidance on internal restructurings, assists with cash repatriations, and ensures the Company maintains its real estate investment trust (“REIT”) status. Day to day you will focus primarily on tax planning which involves developing and implementing ideas that are aligned with the Company’s long-term global tax strategy as well as researching and understanding legislative changes and assisting with local tax audits. As a member of the Global Tax Strategy team you will partner cross-functionally to ensure an optimized tax structure.
What You Need to Succeed
Post-Graduate degree in Tax or Law.
10+ years of experience in a corporate tax department or public accounting firm preferred.
CPA preferred.
Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively
Technical Skills – Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
Approximately 5% travel may be required in support of the position’s responsibilities
Strong organization, planning, and project management skills; ability to prioritize tasks for self and team to meet requirements and deadlines.
Self-motivated; able to work independently and within a group.
Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to effectively and professionally achieve results.
Strong leadership skills: ability to drive and motivate team to achieve results.
Excellent strategic and problem-solving skills.
What You Can Offer Us
Manage and assist with annual global cash tax forecasting.
Assist with M&A and internal restructurings by providing structuring considerations and relevant tax-related inputs.
Develop and implement tax planning ideas in various jurisdictions.
Respond to tax audit inquiries from foreign tax authorities.
Manage and assist with quarterly REIT testing.
Research tax issues using BNA Tax Management Portfolios.
Other duties as assigned.
