Supervises daily operations, the accurate and timely processing of all payroll cycles, and processing functions. Ensures that payroll is processed according to established hospital policies and procedures.
This is a two-year fixed-term position with a defined start and end date.
The Interim Payroll Supervisor will be responsible for:
Supervising the daily operation of the payroll department by planning, organizing, and delegating daily work schedules and assignments in accordance with department goals and deadlines.
Maintaining policies and procedures, assisting the manager with process improvement initiatives, communicating changes to staff, and planning implementation. Providing feedback to the manager on team members’ performance, including achievement of goals, deliverables, and assessment of competencies.
Supporting timely and accurate payment processing by reviewing all pay cycles, adjustments, and master file updates to the payroll system.
Ensuring that all voluntary and involuntary deductions are taken and accounted for throughout the payroll life cycle.
Processing bi-weekly time entry and ensuring that time records are approved within deadlines. Reconciling pay period results, transmitting third-party files (e.g., direct deposit, positive pay, credit union, 403B), and resolving time record issues.
Scheduling G/L interface of pay cycle transactions, researching and correcting any error records.
Generating Leaves of Absence reports, recording available balances, identifying labor charge accounts and special pay requests, and creating pay sheets to generate LOA pay or benefit back charge transactions for arrears processing.
Supporting all activities relating to year-end bonus payments, executive compensation payouts, and other year-end activities impacting employees.
Ensuring compliance with hospital personnel, payroll, and benefit policies.
Maintaining all appropriate tax information for employees and the hospital in accordance with IRS code and filing requirements.
Supporting the reconciliation of all payroll tax-related processing, including quarterly tax figures to tax deposits.
Filing all appropriate quarterly and calendar year-end tax returns. Providing support for internal and external audits.
Overseeing customer service initiatives by fostering a culture of responsiveness and professionalism through empathy and in-depth knowledge of payroll.
Working with payroll staff to review time exceptions, inputting corrections, and balancing and processing transactions in the payroll system.
Reviewing staff schedules (e.g., scheduled hours, time off) with the manager to ensure adequate coverage.
Monitoring work for efficiency, effectiveness, and quality, including conducting audits as requested by the manager.
Providing feedback to the manager on team members’ performance, goal achievement, deliverables, and competency assessments.
To qualify you must have:
Bachelor’s Degree in the field Business or Finance is required
Must be willing to commit to a two-year fixed-term position with a defined start and end date
Five years of minimum relevant experience is required
