Acquired by Jacobs as a subsidiary in February 2022, StreetLight continues to provide innovative digital solutions to help communities reduce congestion, improve safe and equitable transportation, and maximize the positive impact of infrastructure investment.

Joining the Market Development function, you will identify and evaluate opportunities for StreetLight’s expansion into new markets and geographies. Your work ultimately supports Streetlight’s business growth objectives, as well as parent company Jacobs’ growth objectives.

The role and function involve being a Master of Special Projects and research initiatives, typically a month to six months in duration. You will aid in efforts to identify and evaluate opportunities for Streetlight’s expansion into new markets and geographies. The role is heavily cross-functional to ensure market opportunities with SaaS/DaaS, technical feasibility, and financial attractiveness are effectively assessed.

You will need to become a subject matter expert on StreetLight products and services. You will conduct research, develop, and deliver succinct presentations that summarize the economic value add to both executive-level and highly technical audiences. Ideally you are a savvy, sophisticated and technical transportation professional. You will be able to structure ambiguous problems into research projects with a defined business objective and outcome. You will be able to right-size the level of effort based on potential financial attractiveness for StreetLight and Jacobs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research: Conduct primary and secondary research to analyze and size potential markets. Establish market segmentation, competitors, market-entry challenges, and financial opportunity. As relevant, develop economic models to answer critical business questions.

  • Develop and Implement Pricing Strategies: Conduct research and competitive analysis to establish optimal pricing models that maximize revenue and customer acquisition while ensuring alignment with the company’s overall business objectives.

  • Cross-Functional Product Analysis & Alignment: Work with Product Management to provide input on the product roadmap and research priorities based on project results and interactions with partners.

  • Special Projects: Conduct special projects for Executives as needed by providing targeted, timely project management, methodological expertise, and analytical support for select initiatives.

  • Partnerships: Work with Data Partnerships on select strategic partnerships/initiatives that are longer-term and pre-revenue.

  • Technical Alignment: Work side-by-side with Skunkworks and Services team for technical research scoping and delivery to aid in focus on MVP efficiency and meeting customer needs.

  • Marketing Analysis: Work closely with Marketing team members to help review recommendations, sales enablement materials, and more in support of revenue growth.

  • Parent Company: Conduct interviews with lines of business to inform potential growth decisions, conduct historical sales and pipeline evaluations, and connect cross-functionally on a project-by-project level.

  • 4+ years of relevant professional experience (e.g., consulting, economic and/or market research, policy analysis, etc.).

  • BS/MS in Mathematics, Science, an Engineering discipline, Economics, and/or related field.

  • Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to determine feasibility, design customer solutions, and effectively visualize and work with data.

  • Excellent communication skills, including written, visual (presentations), and verbal.

  • Comfortable presenting succinctly to senior executive management, large audiences, and technical practitioners.

  • Team-oriented, flexible, and able to strategically see the "big picture".

  • Self-starter with a flexible mindset that thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys problem-solving and challenging yourself and others to achieve.

  • Ability to take initiative and drive projects from concept to completion, even in ambiguous or undefined environments.

  • Committed to capturing and using data to measure performance and inform decision-making whenever possible, practical, and valuable.

  • Willing and able to travel up to 10% as needed to achieve objectives.

Preferred:

  • Passionate about transportation and energy.

  • MBA and knowledge of statistics.

  • Experience working with an enterprise software or data product, including market price determination.

  • Experience in transportation planning, transportation engineering, and/or geographic information systems (GIS).
