State of Massachusetts Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration (MCSR) Facilities Inspector in Boston, Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health is seeking a reliable, personable and experienced inspector to join the Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration (MCSR) Program at the Bureau of Professional Health Licensure. The MCSR program inspects facilities for the safe, secure storage of controlled substances and issues registrations to providers and facilities so they may conduct approved activities such as manufacture, distribute, purchase, prescribe, administer, and/or possess controlled substances. /_Duties & Responsibilities (These are a general summary and not all inclusive):_/// * Inspects and evaluates the physical security features and accountability policies for controlled substances in establishments engaged in the manufacturing, handling, processing, storage, distribution, and sale across the Commonwealth. * Produce an inspection report for each facility inspection. * Make recommendations to the MCSR team to approve or withhold approval of the MCSR application. * Communicates directly with facility representatives regarding inspection scheduling and findings. * Oversees the weekly triage process for the scheduling of inspections of new facilities seeking an MCSR to authorize the storage of controlled substances on site. * Conducts special investigations related to drug diversion and consumer complaints. * Maintains liaison with local authorities, law enforcement, and regulatory agency personnel to exchange information and resolve problems. * Coordinates with area DEA officials and other state and federal licensing authorities for joint inspections. * Assists in the improvement of inspection tools for inspectors that covers drug security storage features and equipment. * Participates in the review of information on the Drug Control Program’s website regarding requirements for prescription drug security to assist applicants prepare for an inspection and update or amend as needed. * Assists in the review and processing of Facility MCSR applications. * *Required Qualifications: * Strong knowledge of inspection methods and techniques as they pertain to the manufacturing, handling, processing, storage and distribution, of food, food products and drugs. * Knowledge of the methods of general report writing. * Ability to utilize investigative techniques to obtain information. _Preferred Qualifications:___ * Ability to liaison with local authorities, law enforcement, and regulatory agency personnel to exchange information and resolve problems. * Ability to work independently, adapt to varying work situations, and to adjust to changing situations to meet emergency or changing program requirements. * *Please note:This position will require in-state travel up to 75% of the time. __ _About the Department of Public Health:_ The mission of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) is to prevent illness, injury, and premature death, to assure access to high quality public health and health care services, and to promote wellness and health equity for all people in the Commonwealth.
