Job Title: Medical Lab Scientist

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Lab Scientist II to join our team. You will play a vital role in performing routine and complex laboratory procedures to ensure accurate and timely test results. Your expertise will contribute to delivering quality patient care and maintaining a safe and efficient laboratory environment.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.

  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.

  • Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.

  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.

  • Report accurate and timely test results.

  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.

  • Maintain and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.

  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed.

  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a related field, or meet local regulatory CLIA State requirements.

  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.

  • State Medical Technologist license may be required.

  • ASCP or AMT certification may be preferred or required.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

  • Proficient with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems.

  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

Work Environment

You will be working in a CLIA Laboratory within the blood bank. The work environment requires adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment. Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts may be necessary based on business needs.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $46.00 - $46.00/hr.
