Boston Public Schools Operations Coordinator (SY23-24) in Boston, Massachusetts

Reports to: SPED Cab Monitor Yard Manager Position Description: The Operations Coordinators will partner alongside each other as a team of two, to cohesively coordinate the day-to-day AM and PM operations and yard movements of one of the three Boston Public Schools bus yards. Under the supervision of the SPED CAB Monitor Yard Manager, the Operations Coordinator will coordinate the standby monitors at their yard. This person will conduct the daily bid and enter payroll for standby monitors and extra runs assigned at the yard. They will communicate with schools about daily coverage issues and incidents, and arrange for coverage to ensure that approximately sixteen hundred students with Individualized Education Plans are receiving proper support. This position works closely with schools, families, SPED CAB Monitor Yard Manager, and the Assistant Director of the unit to proactively assess the various transportation needs and implement actions that exhibit the ability to efficiently and effectively problem solve. The Operations Coordinator will also be responsible for the performance evaluation management of assigned and standby monitors. Successful candidates will be team-oriented, exhibit strong interpersonal skills, and will be able to effectively navigate in a fast-paced environment Responsibilities: Supervise and coordinate the standby monitors at their yard Plan and execute the daily bid as laid out in the Monitor Union Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) Plan and execute the annual bid and ongoing request/ needs, consistent with IEP requirements and the CBA Communicate with schools about daily coverage issues and incidents Process stand by and assigned monitors payroll Communicate effectively with the Transdev Staff, Schools, and other BPS personnel to provide quality customer service to families, schools, and other BPS constituents, based on the BPS Customer Service Model Manage employee attendance Operate and effectively manage the Routing and Planning update process (BPS Transportation Information System software) Assume responsibility for the coordination of all holiday and weekend work assignments for SPED CAB Monitors On call rotation for weekend and holiday work Flexibility to cover shifts at any of the three bus yards, with short notice, as assigned by the Assistant Director or Executive Director of Transportation Be on-call for emergency phone calls during weekends and holidays Transport Monitors to Schools and Buses if need be using the BPS Car ( Valid Driver's License Required) Other duties as assigned by the Yard Manager, Assistant Director or Executive Director of Transportation Qualifications-Required Bachelor's Degree or 2-5 years of management experience Proven ability to train and manage full circle staff performance evaluation cycle Proven personnel management skills, evidenced by leading small and large teams to success, as measured by key performance indicators or other metrics. Strong communications skills, including but not limited to: presentation, staff performance/feedback conversations, meeting facilitation, execution and delivery of written reports. Demonstrated analytical ability, through the use of Microsoft Excel and/or other database platforms. Ability to work cross-functionally, across multiple teams and projects, while still achieving desired outcomes and meeting project timelines. Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment and to engage effectively with a wide range of internal BPS departments and external stakeholders. Ability to multi-task, set priorities and manage time effectively while working under pressure Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment Qualifications-Preferred Masters Degree in Management, Business Administration, or related field. Minimum 5-10 years of professional experience as a Manager within a Transportation Department in an urban school environment, comparable district or entity Second Language Proficiency in (Spanish, Arabic, Haitian Kreyol, Chinese (Mandarin), Vietnamese, Cape Verdean Creole, Portuguese or Somali) Terms: Managerial, C41.
