This position is located in our Boston office and offers a hybrid work opportunity.

Paralegals are a critical part of DLA Piper’s client service teams, working side by side with lawyers, co-counsel and clients on an array of substantive client matters. Most of our paralegals are career professionals. They work independently and on teams, locally, nationally and globally.

The paralegal team includes Case Assistants, Paralegals, Senior Paralegals and Paralegal Specialists. Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal Certificate

  • 10 years' experience as a litigation paralegal

  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills

  • Strong writing skills and the ability to draft complex legal documents

  • Thorough understanding of federal and local filing procedures (electronic and hard copy)

Preferred Requirements:

  • Large firm experience

  • Trial experience and mass tort experience strongly preferred

  • Experience with litigation technology including eDiscovery

  • Experience with Relativity, Westlaw, and Lexis/Nexis

  • Experience using Pacer and Courtlink

What will your day look like?

In this role, you will work on a team that manages large volumes of documents and data. You are responsible for reviewing, organizing, and maintaining document databases for case tracking discovery, and document production. You will draft standard and recurrent pleadings, e-file, and serve documents. You are responsible for assisting attorneys with preparing pleadings/motions for filing and service.

You will also assist attorneys in various offices across the firm in support of our clients. This will include assisting in the preparation of necessary documents for witness interviews, depositions, hearings, and trials. You will be responsible for locating and reviewing information applicable to a particular case, person, or subject through online research or document reviews. You will act as the lead paralegal by managing cases and guiding your teammates.

Physical Demands, Work Environment, and Other Requirements

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
