The Department of Mental Health at the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital is seeking an experienced and dynamic nursing professional to serve as the Shift Coordinator. _Please note:_ This is a full-time (40hr/week) evening shift position, 2:45PM- 11:15PM with alternating weekends off. Days off: Week 1: Mon/Sat, Week 2: Sun/Fri. Employees in this position will be required to perform mandatory overtime. _Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_ * Develops and maintains a milieu that is calm and safe where interactions between patients and staff and among staff are respectful and grounded in the principles of person centeredness. * Assures that each patient is assigned to an appropriate nurse who is accountable for nursing care decisions and integration of the interdisciplinary plan of care within one business day after admission. * Contribute to the in the review and development of protocols around patient care and nursing practice. * Collaborates with other health care professionals to identify, address, and solve individual unit/care issues. * Ensures that the appropriate number of staff are available to provide safe and effective care daily. · Implements progressive disciplinary action according to hospital policy. · * Maintains a safe environment for patients/staff while executing daily operational activities necessary for effective functioning of unit and hospital. · * Provides unit-based orientation to nursing and other care providers regarding organization and operation of the unit and the role of nursing patient care management. _Required Qualifications:_ * Ability to lead a group of workers. * Capacity to maintain a calm manner in stressful and/or emergency situations. * Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with others. Preferred Qualifications: * Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency. * 3 years of supervisory experience. * Prior charge nurse experience. * 5 years of experience working with individuals with acute mental illness.
