Red Hat Senior UX Researcher in Boston, Massachusetts

Research Red Hat product experience and analyze data and findings to help guide product roadmaps. Ensure research studies are successful by identifying the participants that meet specified criteria to complete the studies and ensure enough participants complete the research studies to be able to provide statistically significant results.

*Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed within normal commuting distance from the Red Hat, Inc. office in Boston, MA.

What You Will Do:

  • Provide summaries and reports for research studies to provide critical information to stakeholders to understand what was done, why it was done and how it influences product decisions.

  • Present research summaries at stakeholder calls, answer questions, and provide resources and artifacts that are easy to consume and can be continually referenced for stakeholders.

  • Design research studies and work with stakeholders to ensure the appropriate questions are included that will provide the evidence needed to influence product roadmaps.

  • Work with stakeholders to understand their need and translate that into successful studies that capture necessary data.

  • Remain current with the industry to be able to appropriately advise and execute research studies and act as an expert on the best methods for capturing UX data for a specific need or area.

  • Analyze and use data from prior studies or from peers to relay how data points can be connected across the larger Red Hat portfolio.

What You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Psychology, Human Factors, or related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or related role OR Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Psychology, Human Factors, or related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related role.

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with independently selecting the appropriate user experience research method and executing user experience research plans to generate insights that support business strategy;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with creating and conducting research studies with varying methods including semi-structured interviews, card sorting, tree jack, preference tests, usability and prototype tests, and empathy workshop;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with product or software life cycle, discerning what types of research apply at each phase, and showing examples of “closed loop” research from generative through evaluative;

  • Must have two (2) years of experience with applying quantitative data analysis and the Outcome-derived Innovation (ODI) framework to identify and prioritize business opportunities;

  • Must have one (1) year of experience with democratization of research by involving stakeholders in the user experience research from generating hypotheses and assumptions through data analysis and synthesis.

The salary range for this position is $127,890.00 - $211,180.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency

Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
