This work is undertaken through the processes of collaboration, consultation, facilitation and education. The Senior Nursing Quality Improvement Specialist works with leadership to build departmental and organizational capability to improve patient care outcomes, experience and value. Identifies opportunities for process improvement and leads clinical related projects and initiatives that support the Patient Care Operations strategy and goals.

The Senior Nursing Quality Improvement Specialist:

  • Embodies the Hospital’s core values in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.

  • Leads and participates in the planning, implementation and maintenance of ongoing quality improvement programs and projects.

  • Provides leadership and supports initiatives and organizational changes to improve outcomes for the department of Nursing/Patient Care Operations.

  • Provides leadership to promote compliance with standards, guidelines, laws and requirements of regulatory agencies, credentialing agencies and professional organizations.

  • Serves as a leader, facilitator and change agent to support organizational quality improvement initiatives, directives and mandates.

  • Independently coordinates and provides project management for quality improvement teams, strategic planning sessions and other organizational meetings as needed.

  • Advises on quality improvement tools, methods and criteria for monitoring care delivery processes and outcomes and evaluating effectiveness of changes.

  • Presents and interacts with department and hospital leaders regarding the results of improvement efforts and the ongoing performance of clinical processes.Takes initiative to develop and facilitate workshops and seminars on quality improvement topics.

  • Maintains knowledge of current professional and industry trends and practices through participation in relevant professional/industry organizations and attendance at conferences and other continuing education programs.

  • Participates in scholarly activities including: writing for publication, presentations at local and national meetings.

To qualify, you must have:

  • Masters degree- required

  • Five years of nursing experience and one year previous quality improvement experience.

  • Current RN licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

  • Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) Preferred

  • Familiarity with all aspects of quality improvement and has demonstrated experience with quality improvement methodologies and tools (PDSA, FMEA, Process Maps/Value Stream Mapping, Graph selection, creation, and interpretation.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions.

Schedule: part time- 20 hours/week
