The SVP of Optum Insight Provider Enablement is accountable for driving the development of a market-leading suite of software and service offerings to enable providers to successfully make the transition from fee-for-service to value-based reimbursement models. This leader will be responsible for development of OI’s Provider Enablement innovation agenda and strategy and building the team and execution plans to delivery of the roadmap. Additionally, this leader will collaborate with Optum Health to create alignment and develop the unified “one Optum” approach to go to market in the Provider Enablement segment. The role will act as a critical point connecting Optum Insight and Optum Health Strategy, business level product plans and commitments, to accelerate our growth by creating unique value across Optum, UHC, and UHG. This leader is accountable for building, scaling, and managing a team of professionals across product, capability, and market activation and working with matrixed organizations to fully stand-up and operate newly formed Provider Enablement businesses.

Primary Responsibilities:

OI Product Incubation and Launch

  • Leads development of product strategy for Optum Insight’s Provider Enablement suite of software and services

  • Builds and directs team to design, test, incubate, and scale differentiated new product offerings to the market

  • Design and execute business development approach to partner and acquire capabilities needed to deliver the Provider Enablement strategy

  • Formulate financial plans, and execution plans for the innovation initiatives.

  • Enhance our commercialization Provider Enablement offerings, generate additional revenue opportunities, improve the customer experience, and enhance the product portfolio by leveraging existing and new technologies.

  • Ensure that tools and processes needed to support innovation scaling and a robust revenue growth pipeline are in place and working effectively

  • Effectively work across the matrix to shepherd the mindset and cultural shift needed to create new and innovative solutions.

  • Build and manage strategic vendor relationships. Develop and maintain relationships with external contacts. Manage internal and external service providers (IT, operations, legal, compliance, marketing, etc.) to ensure the offerings meet company objectives and these large, shared services organizations are accountable to delivering effective, timely solutions.

  • Recommend and champion strategies and tactics designed to positively impact key drivers, such as price, risk profile, utilization, activation, attrition, and revenue, to ensure P&L and market share goals are achieved.

  • Leverages storytelling to share failures and successes of projects, as well as the emerging healthcare themes arising from the team

UnitedHealth Group Portfolio & Channel Management:

  • Accountable for UHC and Optum Health portfolio management process to provide radical transparency, drive co-creation of products & solutions while establishing a clear operating model and cadence to drive growth and management of business across UHG

  • Owns UHC and Optum Health relationship, accountable for Optum Insight performance in support of these internal customers.

  • Defines consistent operating & engagement model for Optum Insight Provider Enablement offerings to position alignment of strategies through annual plans, product roadmaps and correlating performance management (Affordability, KPI’s, etc.)

Leadership :

  • Build organization capabilities and discipline in development and execution of competitive strategies

  • Drives consistent operating & engagement model to ensure alignment of strategies between OptumHealth LOB and UHC

  • Provide ongoing leadership, direction and mentoring to over 53 product, capability and client management professionals.

  • Serves as a key member to the OptumHealth Executive leadership team and has segment-wide and/or enterprise-wide impact.

Required Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of Product Development / Product Management / Market Management experience

  • 10+ years of experience managing large projects and / or leading multi-departmental workgroups

  • 5+ year of experience leading within a consumer product / program or retail environment

  • Experience leading development of new product / business and successfully launching to the market

  • Experience working in / supporting value-based care models and delivery

  • Knowledgeable and proficient with innovation, product development and management methodology and models

  • Clear track record delivering results within complex multi-business programs, both as a manager and contributor

  • Experience building solid working partnerships and deep relationships across a diverse functional and business matrix structure

  • Experience balancing the ability to deliver thru teams and at times directly drive the outcome with tight timelines

  • Experience engaging with external companies to develop business and capability opportunities

  • Experience representing business opportunities with Senior Executives

  • Willingness to travel as required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or Master’s degree

  • Experience working across UHG, Optum and UHC lines of business.

Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, Washington or Washington, D.C. residents is $250,000-$350,000 per year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
