What you’ll need to succeed as a Tech Program Intern III (Data Science ) at XPO :

Minimum qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree

  • 2 or more years of relevant undergraduate coursework

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with administrative processes

  • Understanding of information security, IT systems, and networking concepts

Preferred qualifications:

  • Background or education in a in a STEM-based field (ie. Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Economics, Applied Math, Statistics, etc.)

  • Ability to write SQL

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Understanding of Database concepts

  • Basic knowledge of any data visualization tools

  • Ability to perform tasks in support of unit testing, integration testing and system-level testing

  • Knowledgeable about new technologies and products with the willingness to continue learning

  • Ability to be open-minded and receptive to feedback in an intellectually rigorous environment

  • Self-motivated and able to work well with minimal supervision or in a team environment; consult with team members and management as needed

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve problems

  • Good organizational skills with the ability to multitask

  • Great verbal and written communication skills

About the Tech Program Intern III (Data Science) job

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Create business intelligence solutions by studying informational needs, conferring with users, studying system flows, data usage and work processes, investigating problem areas, and following the development life cycle; comply with design and development standards

  • Interview business users to understand various data elements and usage

  • Participate in development optimization for reporting tools through modeling, simulation and analysis

  • Build reporting and analysis using Google Big Query (GBQ) and Looker

  • Perform tasks using data warehouse methodologies and theories (dimensional modeling)
