The Supervisor, Laboratory Animal Technician is responsible for training and supporting the research technician team.

Responsibilities

Ensure research technicians are properly trained and accurately following approved SOPs. Complete and maintain research technician training records. Coordinate and supervise research technician's daily activities. Attend weekly meetings with study coordinators to efficiently plan technician schedules to ensure proper coverage. Complete and maintain safety, equipment, and hazardous waste verification logs. Complete and maintain environmental health monitoring testing and records and communicate of result to attending veterinarian and manager. Maintain In-Vivo inventory and order materials as needed. Lead weekly research technician meetings with direct reports to communicate study activity assignments. Communicate with study coordinators and principal investigators to ensure their needs are being met. Participate in research technician activities, as needed. Always treat animals humanely and report any concerns over animal care and use. Accurately follow study protocols and report any divergences to manager and PI immediately. Conduct work in an appropriately efficient manner. Maintain cooperative & communicative attitude. Follow company policies. Accurately enter and review data into study spreadsheets (body weights, tissue weights, etc.) Respond to direction from manager. Communicate with management if you can't meet expectations or need help with priorities Perform other tasks as assigned by manager.

Qualifications

B.S./B.A. in science (biology or equivalent) with 3-year direct laboratory animal work experience, or associate degree with 5 years direct laboratory animal work experience, or 8 years of direct laboratory animal work experience without a college science degree, or equivalent combination of related education and required work experience will be considered with management approval. Preferred animal laboratory research experience with mice and rats, including dosing, in-life sample collections, and necropsy collections. Preferred animal laboratory management experience. *This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person's relevant experience and/or education level. This is an exempt role, the salary range is $60,000-$72,000/year.
