Lockheed Martin’s Next Gen Geo (NGG) OPIR Mission Operations Support (NMOS) Team is an industry leader in infrared payload launch and satellite operations that maintain a strong, cohesive relationship with our launch and mission customers while developing a holistic understanding of the NGG Interim Operations (NIO) system and providing adaptive inter-organizational surge support. NMOS promotes the operational perspective across the NIO enterprise while being the center of operational training. The NMOS Training Branch provides qualified Satellite Crew Chiefs, Ground Control Operators, and Satellite Control Operators who conduct tests, launches and early-on orbit testing of the NGG Space Vehicles.

The NMOS Team is looking for a Satellite Systems Crew Chief (SCCH).

The SCCH must be able to perform the Satellite Control Operator (SCO) and Ground Control Engineer (GCO) functions, after being trained. The SCCH oversees the SCO and GCO while performing satellite operations.

The SCO portion of the SCCH job will perform all commanding and State of Health (SOH) activities for one or more space assets and provide real-time evaluation of the satellite TT&C application while also being able to perform the following SCO functions: configure and monitor the TT&C application for proper monitoring of all satellites supporting the NGG mission; monitor the satellite telemetry for proper vehicle performance; evaluate TT&C alarms for possible anomalous conditions onboard the satellites and report any abnormal findings; perform all satellite commanding for daily station keeping operations as approved by the SCCH or Air Force customer; and coordinate with the GCO for the configuration of ground hardware for satellite commanding.

The GCO portion of the SCCH job provides the technical capability in the area of Ground Control (GC) and will configure and maintain the GC application while also being able to perform the following GCO functions: perform all ground system activities; conduct positional changeover; configure ground system assets to maintain mission operations; inform the SCCH of upcoming scheduled activities or maintenance; monitor ground software/hardware status; provide ground status to the appropriate operational crew members; perform Fault Detection Fault Isolation (FDFI) recovery actions when required; provide real-time configuration changes to prohibit data interruptions; notify the SCCH of all ground system reconfigurations and problems; support playbacks for analysis; conduct Air Force Satellite Control Network and Relay Ground Station support to collect satellite positional information; and, resolve real-time scheduling conflicts in coordination with the SCCH.

The SCCH will also be responsible for other crew assignments such as performing as the Air Force Crew Lead, Satellite Systems Engineer (SSE), and developing and delivering the Crew Changeover Briefing.

The SCCH must

• be able to work rotational shifts

• be able to take on other tasks, as assigned

• have a TS security clearance prior to starting employment and must maintain their TS clearance

• be able to obtain a SBIRS SCI Billet Nomination approval and must maintain this approval

Basic Qualifications:

• Previous satellite on-console support

• Current Final Top-Secret security clearance, with ability to achieve and maintain a TS/SCI clearance

Desired Skills:

• Previous SBIRS/NGG training experience with Satellite Ground System and TT&C

• Previous experience with Launch and Early Orbit Testing

• Well-organized, self-starter able to take direction and works well both independently and in a team environment

• Ability to work with limited supervision while leading teams to include collaborating across the NGG environment

• Ability to navigate multiple competing priorities

• Ability to make recommendations on operational and engineering improvements

• Experience leading technical teams

• Willingness to take on any task regardless of complexity

• Ability to communicate effectively with local management, both customer and program, and remotely

• Previous operational certification is considered a plus

• Demonstrated behaviors of a systems thinker; selects and applies appropriate systems thinking skills

• Active TS/SCI security clearance

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Washington or Washington DC is $67,400 - $129,300 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
