Job Summary
We are searching to hire in the area of quantum engineering across all ranks. Faculty holding the current rank of Associate or Full Professor will be considered to fill the Karl Gustafson Endowed Chair of Quantum Engineering (https://apptrkr.com/get_redirect.php?id=5748942&targetURL=https://www.colorado.edu/engineering/2022/02/01/honoree-hopes-new-endowment-will-lead-quantum-breakthrough) . The successful candidate is expected to join the Quantum Engineering Initiative of the College of Engineering and Applied Science, as well as take advantage of Boulder's rich quantum environment that includes JILA and NIST. Ideal candidates will be integral to the highly-collaborative, diverse, and multi-disciplinary quantum science and engineering community at the University of Colorado. Scholars with backgrounds broadly covering all areas of quantum information science and engineering are encouraged to apply. This includes theorists and experimentalists with demonstrated scholarly excellence that is synergistic with our existing strengths, as well as those that bring expertise in exciting new areas.

The ECEE Department includes 2 University Distinguished Professors, 8 endowed chairs, 37 tenure/tenure-track faculty, 5 instructional faculty, and 4 research faculty. Faculty honors include 16 IEEE Fellows, 2 members of the US National Academy of Engineering, a National Science Foundation (NSF) Presidential Faculty Fellow, and 22 NSF CAREER Award recipients. The ECEE program consists of about 450 undergraduate and 450 graduate students and has averaged over $14 million in annual research expenditures. The department maintains close ties with local industry and national institutes/labs such as JILA, NIST, NREL, and NOAA.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Successful candidates will be expected to engage in undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring; develop an externally funded research program in their technical area; contribute professional leadership and service to their unit, the college, and their professional community; and cultivate and contribute to the inclusive excellence of our academic community.
The typical distribution of work for this role is 40% teaching, 40% scholarly and creative work (research), and 20% leadership and service.

The anticipated start date for this position is Fall 2025, but a later start date may be negotiated.
Qualified faculty who are internationally-recognized scholars in quantum engineering, as demonstrated by publication record, innovative teaching and service to the broader community, will be considered for appointment for the Gustafson Endowed Professorship.

What We Can Offer
The anticipated academic year salary range for this position at the Professor rank is $175,000 - $250,000.
The full academic year salary range for Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor is $115,000 - $250,000, depending on rank.
Faculty that hold the Gustafson Endowed Professorship will provide an additional 10% stipend based off of academic year salary.
A relocation stipend may be available within CEAS guidelines.

What We Require
Applicants must have earned a research doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Physics or a closely related field.
Demonstrated expertise and a track record of research in quantum science and/or engineering.
Candidates being considered for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank must meet University standards (https://www.cu.edu/regents/policy/5) and unit criteria for tenure and promotion to the designated rank. These criteria generally include having an established and ongoing program of original research, a strong publication record, a demonstrated ability to obtain external funding, and a record of high-quality teaching and mentoring.
