The Research and Development Scientist that supports our SDC Business has responsibility for developing, leading, and collaborating new product development, product feature enhancements and product modifications that advance and enhance the product portfolio of the division.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Model personal Lean Philosophy 5S behaviors in creating a continuously improving, clean, well-organized and self-maintaining work environment. Work closely with team members and others to motivate and improve 5S knowledge and implementation.
  • Follow a continuous improvement approach for team accountability for achieving high performance SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, & Cost) targets through a visual work environment.
  • Comply with company ethics, code of conduct, policies, and best practices, with a commitment to safety in the workplace, valuing of diversity, and promotion of a harassment-free environment.
  • Research, development, evaluation and improvement of methods, processes and/or products with regards to sterilization indicators (i.e. biological and chemical indicators) and related technologies.
  • Responsible for development and executing experimental protocols along with supporting internal technology development.
  • Lab work and experimentation - routinely work with others to conduct experiments, analyze & interpret data, and communicate results to internal teams.
  • Apply scientific fundamentals in a hypothesis-driven environment to guide and support the development of methods, products, and processes needed to promote success at all stages of the product life cycle.
  • Communicate technical information to internal teams in the form of oral and written correspondence, presentations, and reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications/Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or closely related field required
  • Master's degree or PhD in Microbiology or closely related field preferred
  • Five or more years' experience in medical device or closely related regulated industry research development and/or lab experience
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of safe laboratory methods and adhere to scientifically sound practices, including the design, execution, review, and interpretation of experiments.
  • Demonstrate strong observational and analytical abilities, and competence using and maintaining a variety of analytical instruments and lab equipment
  • Work successfully in a fast-paced, dynamic, collaborative, scientifically driven, team-oriented, and customer-focused environment inclusive of research, development, and manufacturing.
  • Self-motivated, curious mind that pushes their knowledge boundaries and is driven to learn difficult topics on their own.
  • Must be able to independently design and execute experiments and conduct troubleshooting.
  • Must have strong time management skills and be highly organized and flexible to meet changing priorities.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and be capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team to support a positive work environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%

Compensation/Benefits:

The company offers a comprehensive benefits package and compensation for this position. The package includes base salary, bonus, equity, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401k/Match.

Title and compensation will be aligned with education and experience level.
