This is a casual call position

Position Summary:

Health Information Management (HIM) Clerk collects, organizes, evaluates, and indexes to the EMR all patient medical records from all Bozeman Health (BH) hospital departments and Provider Based Clinics, reviewing them for accuracy and completeness. HIM Clerk maintain and organize legacy records and handles sensitive records, documents, photographs professionally and with regard to Montana Code and HIPAA regulatory guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

• Preferred: Medical Record and customer service experience

• Preferred: Previous experience working with Montana Code and HIPAA regulatory guidelines with respect to release of information (ROI)

• Preferred: Previous experience with HIPAA regulations

Essential Job Functions:

• Greet and assist customers

• Verifies the accuracy of document information, correct any discrepancies, and index appropriately

• Manage and updates Master Patient Index (MPI)

• Index/retrieve and manage historical data from legacy systems and paper charts

• Provide cross functional training across entire department

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Detail oriented, organizational skills and the ability to prioritize

• Computer applications, MS Office, EMR, internet applications and standard office equipment

• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

• Self-directed, completes assignments accurately, thoroughly and with minimal oversight

• Strong emotional intelligence, interpersonal and teamwork skills

• Exercises tact, discretion, sensitivity and maintains confidentiality
