Description

JOB SUMMARY: The Director of the LECOM Master of Science in Medical Cannabinoid Therapeutics (MS MCT) program is administratively responsible to assist in the curriculum development, faculty procurement & training, program marketing, student recruiting, education delivery, program operations, fiscal success, and compliance requirements of the MS MCT program.

CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Work under the leadership of the Dean, and in cooperation with other faculty and support staff in office at the LECOM Bradenton, Florida campus;

  • Administration of financial and public relations functions for the MS MCT program;

  • Supervise assigned MS MCT employees;

  • Actively manage the recruitment of students and faculty, developing and implementing the curriculum, and overseeing all academic administrative duties;

  • Develop objectives and outcome measures to assess student performance per regional accreditation requirements;

  • Overnight travel is required;

  • Continuous review of current literature and industry research pertaining to curricular programs which will maintain a “cutting edge” MS MCT educational program;

  • Oversees the evaluation and assessment process for students;

  • Oversees the career planning of MS MCT students and alumni;

  • Helps lead the faculty in the design and definition of the curriculum and in the development of educational policy consistent with the mission of the school and institution;

  • Responsible for student guidance, mentoring, and counseling;

  • Advise faculty in meeting their responsibilities;

  • Comply with Higher Education Policy Commission requirements;

  • Teaches and facilitates as requested by LECOM leadership;

  • Demonstrates an ability to effectively lead faculty and staff in the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the institution.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the policies and applicable laws;

  • Interview, make hiring recommendations, and train employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems;

  • Create presentations and deliver lectures via the LECOM CANVAS LMS, ZOOM video conferencing and other related techologies;

  • Serve as a faculty mentor for students in a variety of related issues (i.e. Remediation of students, etc.);

  • Ongoing quality and performance review of the MS MCT program and offer suggestions for improvement;

  • Serve on various committees as assigned;

  • Work to support annual LECOM student scholarship events;

  • Contributes toward specific LECOM projects and functions;

  • Tracks student attendance and provide attendance reports;

  • Must be able to take direction and receive assignments from the Dean and other LECOM designated leadership;

  • Faculty member will contribute directly to the Mission of LECOM embodying the essence of Osteopathic Principles and Practices;

  • Assisting with Institutional fundraising and participating in the LECOM Scholarship Auction;

  • Faculty member will participate in scholarly activity so to enrich and broaden the student learning experience;

  • Faculty member will commit to being a representative of LECOM by being actively involved in the community, including, but not limited to, serving on Boards, participating in community fundraisers and overall outreach; and

  • Accept other duties needed/assigned for the Institution’s needs.

Minimum Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS : Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

  • Strong leadership skills with experience with strategic planning, systems improvement, budgets, effective management, and a background in health policy;

  • Industry Credible Knowledge covering the breadth of the MS MCT education program course content and concepts including but limited to: the medical cannabis healthcare business sector, medical cannabis dispensary structure and operations, cannabinoid pharmacokinetics and neuro pathways, medical marijuana laws, ethics, governmental policies and regulations, and medical cannabinoid therapeutics efficacy necessary to ensure a proper understanding for students;

  • Understanding of osteopathic principles and practices;

  • Compliance with State and Federal Regulations and Safety Protocols, at the practice level.

  • Knowledge of patient’s (“HIPAA”) and student’s (“FERPA”) privacy;

  • Follow proper OSHA and safety guidelines; Protect equipment (office, dental, facility);

  • Strong communications skills are essential as well as computer literacy (MS Office Suite [i.e. Word, PowerPoint and Excel]) and accurate data entry skills;

  • Excellent organizational skills;

  • Must be accurate and attentive to detail;

  • Must be trained and certified on the LECOM’s learning computer platform;

  • Maintaining an established work schedule;

  • Effectively using interpersonal and communications skills, including tact and diplomacy;

  • Effectively using organizational and planning skills, including attention to detail and follow-through;

  • Assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects, and demands;

  • Maintaining confidentiality of work related information and materials;

  • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships;

  • Be able to be flexible to accept other duties needed/assigned for the practice needs;

  • The ability to work cooperatively and collegially with others, consistent with a workplace of dignity and respect and EEO rules and regulations;

  • The ability to report to work as scheduled, ready to devote full attention and energy to the important work of LECOM; and

  • The ability to accept work directives from managers and supervisors in a respectful, professional and cooperative manner.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and experience equivalent to: an earned Masters degree or Doctorate Degree from an accredited college or university in the one of the following or related discipline areas; Health Care Administration, Ph.D. in Neuropharmacology, Doctor of Business Administration, Pharm.D., D.O. or M.D. with a Masters in Business or Health Services Administration, a minimum of three (5) years of experience in academic or healthcare industry administration;

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be physically present at the MS MCT designated work location no less than 40 hours per week, in order to attend to administrative and teaching duties, research, committee assignments, student related duties, and other related duties. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include ability to distinguish the nature of objects by using the eye.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT: Employee is responsible for performing duties in an environment that is free from discrimination, intimidation, coercion or harassment, including sexual harassment. Work is performed indoors in an office setting and outside of the office at local community outreach sites. The noise level in the work environment is low to moderate.

    SAFETY: Assists in the creation of a culture of safety and environmental protection by performing work safely in accordance with departmental safety procedures. Operates equipment safely and reports any unsafe work conditions or practice to supervisor.

    INFORMATION MANAGEMENT: Ensure compliance with the LECOM Computer and Network Usage Policy – General Guidelines for Faculty and Staff. Ensure Multi-factor authentication and cyber security protocols are engaged and followed at all times. Ensure FERPA guidelines and protocols are followed at all times. Participate in all LECOM required continuing education and compliance training.
